My Take on the Movie
“The Best of Me” is the story of Dawson and Amanda, former high school sweethearts brought back together by the funeral of a close mutual friend twenty years later. Some of the forces that drove them apart in high school come back to haunt them when they are reunited.
Even though the story was a bit predictable, the cast really carried the movie. Michelle Monaghan as Amanda and James Marsden as Dawson were very believable as the reunited lovers. And it was wonderful to see Gerald McRaney as the close mutual friend.
Overall I enjoyed the movie. I would have liked to have seen a happier ending, but it kept my attention all the way through, I did not look at my watch once and I felt moved when it was over. That makes for a pretty good movie in my book.
