Kids Love Cold Stone Hot Cocoa - #coldstonecocoa
More check-ins at Walmart Supercenter #4540
Powered by Whrrl
I was recently asked to try out Cold Stone's new Cocoa mix thanks for Collective Bias and Cold Stone. To be completely honest, I had no idea that Cold Stone even had Cocoa mix until I was given this opportunity but seeing how much my family loves Cold Stone Creamery... I thought this would be the Cocoa for us!
I had a little of a difficult time finding the product at first and quickly came to find that I needed to go to a Walmart Supercenter to find it as the regular Walmarts did not have the product in store as of yet.
In going to the Super Walmart I found three varieties prominently displayed and easy to find as they had it right in aisle one! The only variety that they did not carry was the Dark Chocolate (DARN!), so we ended up getting one of the milk chocolate and one with the marshmallows.
I wanted to get these when I did as I knew we were going to have a house full of kids today and we wanted to truly get their opinion.
One thing that I was a bit confused about when I did put the cocoa together was that it mentioned that we had to put 6oz of water per packet, but when I did this, we only had water in about 1/4 of the coffee cup. So I decided to throw away convention and double it (actually a bit more than that) and add a second packet of cocoa into a number of the adult cups. Soon I found that I was going to have to cut back or I would run out of cocoa, so we also did some with 1.5 packets and some with only 1 packet.
What I found was that in using 2 packets the cocoa was rich and thick. If you like chocolate, this would definitely be something you would like! I also tasted the other two varieties and found that they too tasted good, just not as thick, but just as tasty!
All-in-all, the kids loved the cocoa and all said they wanted their moms to go out and get this kind of cocoa. We even had one girl that never likes cocoa who said that she loved this mix and she wanted to have her mom buy her some!
So for this family, we have found a new Cocoa mix! I am definitely looking forward to trying other varieties in the future!

Thinking About Law School?
I have the privilege of being affiliated with Cooley Law School and have continued to be impressed with the caliber of the school and the students they have studying there. I also honestly would be proud to have a Cooley Lawyer represent me in the future if ever I needed representation!
Just today Cooley unveiled a new video, which I think encapsulates some of the great things that they are doing across their four campuses!
If you are thinking about law school or know someone who is, take a look at this video!

Box of Possibilities: This season’s must-have gift for kids doesn’t require batteries
The best part of the holidays for kids is often not the latest gadget, but the potential of the box in which it's delivered. For Cleveland-based Build A Dream Playhouses, it took the concept of cardboard fun one step further to create an imaginative world where boxes take the shape of cars, jets, kitchens, castles, ice cream trucks, space shuttles and much more. The result not only gives kids the gift of creativity and fun, but also provides parents with an affordable, easy-to-store toy that kids can enjoy year-round.
According to toy trend specialist Reyne Rice from the Toy Industry Association (TIA), the 2010 market trends are centered on four "A's": active, accessible, affordable and aspirational. With multiple cardboard designs available and more in development, Build A Dream corrugated cardboard play structures positively stimulate a child's emotional and intellectual development.
“Our innovative products exercise children both physically and mentally, as opposed to video games or other expensive toy fads," said Sam Cahill, creative director, Build A Dream Playhouses. "Imaginative play creates influential interaction between children and their peers and provides countless hours of enjoyment for kids that parents can support and afford.”
Build A Dream play structures offer the simplicity of cardboard, while inspiring the complexity of a child's imagination. The unique products are lightweight, sturdy, and are easy to assemble with no adhesive or fasteners required.
The cardboard is printed with one color, black graphics on the white corrugated, which helps provide the basis for children to imagine. The clean surface material allows children to decorate the play structure with paints, markers, stickers or other creative accents to truly make it their own.
“We supply the palette for children to create their ideas and bring them to life in a way that's safe, fun and original," added Cahill. "We strive to deliver toys that stimulate and encourage the endless imagination of children with safe, affordable and eco-friendly products.”
As a company, Build a Dream has a strong commitment to child safety and to the environment. All products have been tested to conform to the standards of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). In addition, each product is manufactured from 80 percent recycled materials, resulting in an end product that is 100 percent recyclable. The transportation and logistics of the products also drastically reduce the fuel consumption required to ship products.

I was given the opportunity to go and check out the stores to see what was really happening and I was amazed! I had not been to wither store in a while (and when I say a while, I mean a while). This was not because of any lack of interest in the stores, but instead it was due to location mostly and the fact that I don't always splurge on myself in regards to clothes (I still have some sweaters and shirts that I owned back in high school...which was a long time ago).
Anyway, when I went to both stores I was amazed to find the number of high quality brands at affordable prices that I did find. I was able to find a few things for myself and at the same time something for J-Mom and still stay with the $50 giftcard that was provided to me. The stores were clean and organized and the employees were very helpful. At T.J. Maxx I even browsed through the clearance items and was surprised to find some very nice things that they were trying to clearance off. I actually went over my budget and grabbed a few things there as well (as I am always looking for a deal.
All-in-all I was very impressed and will now be visiting the stores more frequently (Diva-J needs some winter dresses).
I encourage all of you to go and check out the new look of both T.J.Maxx and Marshalls, I know you will be pleasantly surprised!

California author and illustrator Elke Weiss has just published a children’s book specially designed to plant the seeds of environmental activism in the next generation.
Hannah is a little girl with a special and unique gift. She has very, very big ears which enable her to hear things in the world all around her that other people do not notice.
She can hear the grass grow, the wind sing, and the ants march one by one. She can hear birds chirping far away and even hear the trees drinking water.
Unfortunately, she is teased and criticized by other children and runs away to be alone. With her extra special powers she finds and befriends a very special and solitary tree and learns about the tragic fate of the trees around her.
And now the last tree is threatened as well. Is there any way to save the lone tree from destruction? Will anyone listen to Hannah's cry for help?

Hannah and the Talking Tree is an environmental children's book intended for Ages 3-7.
This is a charming, well written and beautifully illustrated book. The characters are loveable, the storyline brilliant, and the illustrations, in vivid hues with detailed backgrounds, are exquisitely done.
Elke Weiss strives to teach children how important it is to care for our environment. Hannah and the Talking Tree is a wonderful way to give children an understanding of the environment and value the development of a healthy sense of curiosity for nature. This book is not only about environment and acting to make change, it has the simple goal to get kids out into nature so they don’t lose touch with the world around us.
Elke Weiss grew up in Bavaria, Germany running bare feet over meadows, climbing trees and mountains. She has working experience as a writer, illustrator, designer, animator, filmmaker and publisher. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
My Take on the Book
This book was great and it opened my kids eyes to the environment. The illustrations are adorable and the characters are memorable. When I first read the book, I thought that it was going to have an underlying tone of isolation where the main character was being ridiculed because of her looks, but instead it was a story that was more about acceptance which is something that I definitely want my girls to know.
If you and you family care about the environment, this book was a gentle story that provided kids the opportunity to gain a much better understanding of the environment and its importance. Hannah also shows readers that having a curiosity about nature and the world around oneself is a positive thing, and you will learn so much more than you could even know.
I highly recommend this book!

Book Review - An Amish Christmas
About the Book
Enjoy this Amish Christmas bestseller with an additional new novella from romance author Kelly Long.
"Christmas Cradles" by Kelly Long -- When Anna Stolis takes over for her aunt, the local Amish midwife in Paradise, Christmas night heats up with multiple deliveries, three strangers' quilts, and the help from resourceful and strong Asa Lapp, whose job it is to get Anna through a dangerous blizzard to complete her midwifery rounds.
“A Miracle for Miriam” by Kathleen Fuller: This Christmas, Miriam must decide whether to guard herself or accept the love of a man who once broke her heart.
“A Choice to Forgive” by Beth Wiseman: Lydia, a widow who has given up on love, is shocked when Daniel-- a past love-- returns to the Order, and her life.
“One Child” by Barbara Cameron: This snowy Lancaster Christmas Eve will see two couples’ lives changed by the birth of one child.
Contributer Barbara Cameron is the author of fifteen novels and three nationally televised movies (HBO), as well as a recipient of the first Romance Writers of America Golden Heart.
My Take on the Book
What I found interesting about these stories was that they were loosely connected, but they they could easily be read by themselves. Each of the stories give you a glimpse into the Amish culture and values as well as they provide the reader stories that are timeless Christmas classics. Many remind me of stories you would find in Hallmark Movies. I am not saying this in a negative fashion, but they read much like the way that Hallmark Movies do, and in the end there is redemption in most cases.
Each of the stores show strong female characters that are on very different journeys. Each has struggles, but each also finds resolution in the end.
All three of the books are inspirational Christmas stories and quick reads. You will truly find these books to be ones that you will want to share with others in the future!

Product Review - Glomate Plus
About the Product
My Take on the ProductWhat is nice about the Mobi GloMate is that it emits a bright glow in a choice of colors. This light is something that any child will like as they go to sleep at night. It is in a shape that is comfortable to hold and but not comfortable enough to take to bed with a child. It is rechargeable His surface is hard, but all smooth curves -- which feel good in the hand, but perhaps not so comfortable to which is always something that I appreciate, especially when I have spent so much in the past on batteries!
The product gently lights the room of my daughter. I enjoyed that there was a button that set a timer that slowly dims and turns it off in 15 minutes. If you don't want the timer to work it will shine for 8+ hours off its base. It then will take at least 4 hours to recharge. The base plugs into an outlet via a cord similar to a cellular phone charger.
My girls both enjoyed this product and the only downfall was that we only had one so only one daughter could have it in her room!
Anyway, I would highly recommend this product, especially if you are looking for a great nightlight for your child.
