About the Company
What started in 2003 as a way for surfing enthusiast and retail veteran Don Craig to honor his father, Old Guys Rule (oldguysrule.com) has swelled into an iconic brand extending across the globe with products in approximately 1,400 retail locations in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Scandinavia.
Shortly after the Southern California company’s launch, Craig realized that the “Old Guys Rule” motto extended beyond the surfing community to men from all walks of life, who see age as a “Badge of Honor,” not an impediment. The once local t-shirt company now is a lifestyle brand with apparel and accessories that speak to men from around the world with passions ranging from surfing, golf and grilling to hot rods, motorcycles, sports, and more.
In the past few years, Old Guys Rule introduced the “Legends” Series to recognize men who wear their age with pride and celebrate their accomplishments. John Wayne and Muhammad Ali were the first to be honored with their most iconic images and sayings featured on several Old Guys Rule t-shirts. A portion of proceeds from the t-shirt sales benefit the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Center. Recent additions to the Legends Series are Albert Einstein and the Three Stooges.
In August, 2012, Old Guys Rule plans to launch Old Guys Rule Amber Ale Beer. Because of our local connection to Camp Pendleton and in appreciation for all that our servicemen do for us, our Beer Launch is also a fundraiser for the Semper Fi Fund which benefits Wounded Warriors. Left Coast Brewery, Old Guys Rule International and the Wind and Sea Restaurant are co-sponsoring the event. They are donating gift baskets and other products for the Silent Auction and Raffle to raise funds for the charity. In addition, for every Old Guys Rule Beer sold during the evening, one dollar will be donated by the Wind & Sea Restaurant to the Semper Fi Fund.
My Take on the Company
This clothing line was so much fun! I ended up sharing the hat that I received with my father and the shirt with my father-in-law and though I think they were a bit affronted by the concept of being old, but also laughed about the concept and thought that their golfing buddies would get a kick out of it. The apparel that I received were of high quality and even when I tried on the hat (before I ended up sharing it with my own father) I was impressed with how well it fit on my head. You will want to look at the logo as well as the statement that is placed on the back of some of the materials as well. If you are looking for the perfect gift for the aging gent, you should definitely look at this product line as you will not be disappointed!
