Book Review - Let's Take It Outside!: Teacher-Created Activities for Outdoor Learning

About the Book
Children love outdoor play. Now teachers can combine the magic and excitement of the outdoors with activities that encourage and support learning!

With more than one hundred new teacher-created, classroom-tested outdoor activities, Let's Take It Outside! engages children's minds and bodies as they explore the limitless bounds of the outdoors while also building key skills in areas like math, literacy and language, science, art, and music.

Perfect for ages three to six, the activities in Let's Take It Outside! take kids on an outdoor adventure as they make mud-dough letters, go on a rainbow scavenger hunt, and play animal charades.

Let's Take It Outside! is the result of a nationwide contest among teachers. The best of the best activities are selected and organized by theme for easy use. Themes include counting, alphabet, colors, shapes, art, touch, sound and sight, plants and gardening, bubbles and air, light and shadow, animals and insects, dramatic play, and large motor skills.

My Take on the Book
As a husband to a teacher I asked my wife to explore this book and she stated that she simply loved the book! She stated that the book was full of amazing activities that will allow a child and teacher (or parent) to get outside, have fun, and allow the child to learn along the way. What was best was that each of the activities were simple to follow and easy to implement. The result, pure fun that engages and encourages active play! I have to say that in reading the book myself, I loved how the activities were broken down into thematic areas, allowing the reader to find what they are trying to teach their child and then finding the right activity for the learning goal. The materials that you need for the activities range, but in general you do not need to large a number to complete each activity which makes the goals attainable and the activities less cumbersome. Overall, this was a great book that I would highly recommend!
