Book Review - Daddy Needs a Drink

About the Book
Throughout history, countless children’s stories have been written, from Little Red Riding Hood to Snow White. These and others have thrilled and sparked children’s imaginations. While fantasy stories have always been wonderful for instilling creativity in children, there are numerous benefits to exposing them to “real life” situations in a fun and creative way.

While many of the aforementioned stories serve also to instill morals, Justin Brown’s Daddy Needs a Drink helps both the child and parent appreciate reality in this hilarious and timely book. Together reading these humorously written episodes in the day of a father’s life forms an instant connection with father and child, as it sheds light on important parenting skills and the ramifications of a father’s role in his child’s life.
Though the book is a quick and easy read, each of its pages are full of meaning.

The scenes in Daddy Needs a Drink illustrate the real life duties and struggles of a father. From his early rise to tackle the chore list, to fixing the unexpected leaking toilet, the father's kept constantly at work. More importantly, he isn't bothered by the constant demands of his family and homestead, because of his love, and his duty to succeed in his role—because he loves his children, and he relishes his duty to take care of them.

In a unique way, Daddy Needs a Drink conveys a father’s tireless love for his child and the book itself has a comforting and reassuring aura about it—leaving the child with an assuring “Don’t fear, I’ll be here for you.”

Essentially, a fantasy book can be thrilling and full of adventures; however, it cannot deliver the same feeling of security to the child that is seen in Daddy Needs a Drink. Moreover, it will gear the minds of children to the importance of daily family activities like grilling burgers for supper and being tucked into bed every night. Reading this book to children is the ultimate security blanket.

Daddy Needs a Drink portrays real-life situations a father encounters in a natural and effortless way. Justin Brown’s Daddy Needs a Drink will help individuals laugh their way toward building a stronger bond with their kids.

My Take on the Book
This story is not about Dad drinking any kind of alcoholic drink. It is so totally the opposite.

All dads can probably relate to our main character. He does it all around the house from mowing the grass, to putting gasoline in the canister so he can perform this job , to building a fence with boards he chops by himself from a tree, and don't forget the inside chores like fixing a toilet that is leaking.

Dad's can fix anything! Our dad in this story also cooks supper on the grill and of course takes the garbage out on the correct day.

Finally at the end of the day, Dad gets his special hugs from his children as they head off to bed. Their "I love you" makes the day perfect for him.

And now Dad can have his special time too as he relaxes , at last, with a nice cold glass of milk.

Families , especially dads can relate to this book. Dads do so much around the house and families can have fun brainstorming other jobs that their dad's perform. You can write your own book about your dad. Have fun!!
