Book Review - Pig The Elf

Pig The Elf

About the Book
Santa was coming! 'Twas bigger than big!

No one loves Christmas more than Pig. And the world's greediest pug will stay up all night to get his presents! When Pig yips at Santa and finds himself joining in on the flying sleigh ride, things quickly get out of hand in a way that is pure Pig pandemonium.

My Take on the Book
We loved reading this Pig the Pug book. While we had not read the previous book, this one was a ton of fun to read with my daughters. They loved seeing the interaction between Pig and Trevor, and while the two dogs are very different, it was fun to see Pig get to learn a lesson in the end. Pig may be the dog that you love to hate but it was nice that he gets his in the end!

Book Review - Natural Disaster: I Cover Them. I am One

Natural Disaster: I Cover Them. I am One

About the Book
ABC News chief meteorologist Ginger Zee pulls back the curtain on her life in Natural Disaster. Ginger grew up in small-town Michigan where she developed an obsession with weather as a young girl. Ginger opens up about her lifelong battle with crippling depression, her romances that range from misguided to dangerous, and her tumultuous professional path. This cyclone of stories may sound familiar to some-it's just that Ginger's personal tempests happened while she was covering some of the most devastating storms in recent history, including a ferocious tornado that killed a legend in the meteorology field.

This book is for all the mistake makers who have learned to forgive others and themselves-even in the aftermath of man-made, or in this case Zee-made, disasters. It's a story that every young woman should read, a story about finding love and finding it in yourself.

Beloved by Good Morning America's audience, Ginger is a daily presence for millions. Zee's gained fame for her social media presence which is as unfiltered as Natural Disaster-from baby barf to doggy doo-doo. She's shattered the glass ceiling for women in meteorology, but admits here first, she's the one natural disaster she couldn't have forecast.

My Take on the Book
I was really interested in seeing how this book was. I lived in Grand Rapids when Ginger Zee was just starting with the weather and I followed her career as she moved up from one market to another. This was a fun book that really allows you to learn a ton more about Ginger Zee herself. You learn about her history, her highs, her lows and more. I loved how open she was with sharing herself, and if you love how she covers the weather you will also learn a ton about how this is an allegory for her life too.

Book Review - Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 3 The Ship of the Dead

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 3 The Ship of the Dead

About the Book
Magnus Chase, a once-homeless teen, is a resident of the Hotel Valhalla and one of Odin's chosen warriors. As the son of Frey, the god of summer, fertility, and health, Magnus isn't naturally inclined to fighting. But he has strong and steadfast friends, including Hearthstone the elf, Blitzen the dwarf, and Samirah the Valkyrie, and together they have achieved brave deeds, such as defeating Fenris Wolf and battling giants for Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Now Magnus faces his most dangerous trial yet. His cousin, Annabeth, recruits her boyfriend, Percy Jackson, to give Magnus some pointers, but will his training be enough?

Loki is free from his chains. He's readying Naglfar, the Ship of the Dead, complete with a host of giants and zombies, to sail against the Asgardian gods and begin the final battle of Ragnarok. It's up to Magnus and his friends to stop him, but to do so they will have to sail across the oceans of Midgard, Jotunheim, and Niflheim in a desperate race to reach Naglfar before it's ready to sail. Along the way, they will face angry sea gods, hostile giants, and an evil fire-breathing dragon. Magnus's biggest challenge will be facing his own inner demons. Does he have what it takes to outwit the wily trickster god?

My Take on the Book
This is a great conclusion to this great series of books. All of the books have been strong and while I think a few others had a stronger story this one was still a lot of fun, with a ton of great characters as always. I love to experience the story through the eyes of the characters' and these books really allow you to do that in such a fun way!

This book allows you to gain a much better understanding into all the characters within the book. The plot of the book ties up wonderfully but also leaves room for the series to continue the series. Rick Riordan again did not disappoint in this great book and if he does choose this series, I for one will be back for more!
