Book review - Halo's Story: as told by the dog that walked with Jesus

About the Book

In the first century, a litter of puppies was born to a common dog. One puppy was chosen and given to a young man of sixteen years; His name was Jesus, the son of a carpenter. Jesus accepted responsibility for this puppy and their Love for one another began. Throughout seventeen years this dog seldom left Jesus' side; he was there during the years Jesus helped His father, Joseph, work to feed his family. Halo learned of all the different kinds of Love by watching and listening to his Master. Jesus taught thousands and His ministry grew during many journeys around Galilee and the Middle Eastern area. Halo tells the story of his life with Jesus.

My Take on the BookThe entire concept of a dog telling a story as having a master named Jesus Christ is intriguing. It was a good story about the dog learning to know who Jesus was/is, how to live one's life, and about eternal life with our Father in heaven

This story is told in the first person by a dog named Halo. Halo was given to Jesus when he was 16 years old.

Halo tells stories about Jesus healing the sick. He tells of the gentleness and companionship he has with Jesus. Just as Jesus treated humans with love and respect, Halo learns to treat his fellow creatures with the same love and respect, and so teaches his animal friends about his Master and his ways.

Halo learns that Jesus has two fathers: an earthly one and one in heaven. Halo wants to learn more about this heavenly Father who Jesus talks to and goes to temple to visit with other humans.

Throughout the story, Halo becomes a "student" and a "follower" just as we become  followers of Jesus. He learns about healing, loving even those humans who are evil and mean,  and how even in death , there is life with our heavenly Father. Halo learns gentleness and kindness for all who inhabit the Earth by imitating Jesus. And in the end Halo and Jesus are reunited in heaven with our heavenly Father.

This is a sweet story that every family member will enjoy. It is also a good story for a family to use for discussion purposes about life, how we treat others, our purpose in life, etc.
