MassMutual is Helping Families Plan for the Future

Did you know over the next 10 to 15 years, an estimated 800,000 children with autism will age out of their school systems? Nearly three quarters of these families are worried about their child’s financial future, but most have done little to plan for when their child with autism becomes an adult. That’s why today, I’m reaching out to you on behalf of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), to encourage you to join this mission to get the word out that help is available for families with children with special needs!

How can you get involved?
1.       It’s first important to understand that having a planning process for the future is critical for all parents. This is especially true for parents having children with autism, as demonstrated in “Autism: Coming of Age,” a film produced by award-winning filmmaker Catherine Sager and sponsored by MassMutual. The hour-long documentary provides an inside look at the lives of three adults with autism and their families and also includes expert commentary from advocates and state government officials who detail the long-term challenges of providing quality care to adults with autism. “Autism: Coming of Age” has aired on local PBS affiliates across the country and is truly inspiring.

You can also catch a glimpse of this moving story by watching a ten minute clip which can be found at www.massmutual.com/planningtools/additional-resources/special-needs/special-care/autism-coming-of-age.
