About the Book
The thoroughly moving books in the Born Free series tell the stories of wild animals around the world that have been saved from a lifetime of cruelty and suffering.

The Born Free Foundation's mission is to protect many different species in their natural habitats, working with local communities to make sure that people and wildlife can live together peacefully. In Lion Rescue, children will meet a sad and lonely lioness named Bella who spent her days in a run-down zoo, a bored and dejected lion named Simba that spent his life in a dark, cramped trailer. Born Free to the rescue! Parents will be intrigued by these books as they recall Born Free, the movie that inspired a generation. In it, they learned the story of Elsa, an orphaned lion cub that was brought up by Joy and George Adamson (portrayed by Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna in the movie and the founders of the Born Free Foundation) and released back into the wild. Children will be inspired as they read how the Born Free Foundation comes to the rescue, saving suffering animals and giving them their well-deserved happy endings. Both parents and children will find the stories in these books wonderful conversation starters about life, compassion, taking a stand for what you believe in, and making the world a better place.

My Take on the Book
This was an amazing story of saving two lions. A female lion named Bella and a male lion named Simba were in different countries and their health in captivity was not good. They were not eating properly and did not have space to exercise.

Through the efforts of various animal organizations, the lions were taken from their abusive environments and given new homes. The lions needed rest, medicine, an operation to save an eye, and space to roam and live free.Food and water were of course necessary to help with the healing process.

Eventually Simba and Bella were united in the same space in Africa through the efforts of various organizations and Born Free. It took a lot of patience by the humans. The reader may even wonder as the book comes to the end if they will in fact become friends and live in the same area.

Your child and you will enjoy reading this book. You will learn interesting facts about lions. You will also learn of the efforts of people all over the world to rescue wild animals . The photographs are excellent too.
