About the Book
Nurse Penny is a fun and funky school nurse who wears honeybee earrings and a butterfly smock and carries a ladybug purse. But there's one kind of bug she'd rather not have around. . .head lice! So she calls a special school assembly to talk about those pesky critters--what they look like, how to avoid them, and how to get rid of them. After all, lice can happen to anyone--even the school nurse!

My Take on the Book
Reading this story brought memories of elementary school with the school nurse and teacher checking our heads for lice. Yes, as the book tells the reader, it can happen and it does not mean you are unclean if you have lice.

Catherine Stier wrote an excellent resource book for adults to use with children. The text was clearly written for young children and the illustrations by Suzanne Beaky complimented the story beautifully.

There were many easy to understand informational passages included in the story and a sensitivity and honesty to the subject of lice.

I encourage parents and teachers to add this book to their personal resource library.
