My Take on the Book
Gavin wants to grow the biggest pumpkin and take it to the pumpkin growing contest. Since Gavin has never had the opportunity or experience to grow any kind of vegetable, he relies on family and friends to assist him in the process. The result is he grows the winner!
This story is a wonderful introduction for your young child to begin their own little garden. it is full of information that they can understand and the process is made easy with the beautiful illustrations.
The art work is interesting. Holly Stone-Barker created the illustrations using all kinds of paper with various textures. The cat on one page actually looks furry. Your child will enjoy the illustrations as much as the story.
