Eric DelaBarre is an award-winning Hollywood Director/Writer of Law & Order fame and author of Why Not: Start Living Your Life Today. The book is illustrated by R.C. Nason, a professional artist for more than twenty years, recipient of the Hans Christian Anderson Award for Thumbelina, and has worked on films like All Dogs Go To Heaven, Anastasia, Titan A.E. and Final Fantasy to name a few.

DelaBarre's Saltwater Taffy follows the lives of five friends as they uncover a treasure map that once belonged to the ruthless New Orleans pirate, Jean Lafitte. The discovery thrusts them from one treasure hunting adventure to the next as they try to out-wit, out-think and out-maneuver everyone from the one-legged junk-yard man and an overbearing town bully, to the creepy old man living at the top of the hill. Saltwater Taffy is a race to-the-finish adventure that grabs the reader and never lets go.

"A perfect read for the summer. A wonderful, fun-filled adventure for all ages!" says Sharon F. Andrews, 2003 Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence, 2006-2007 PTA Life Achievement Award, and 2008 South Dakota Teacher of the Year.

"This is a fast-paced thrilling tale of adventure sure to please even the most reluctant of readers! DelaBarre uses his extensive film and television storytelling talents to draw readers right into the story." Chris Singer, Editor, BookDads.com

My Take on the Book This book has a little of everything for any tween, adventure, excitement, humor and characters that you will not soon forget. For me what was best about this book was the interactions of the characters and the hilarity that ensues.
is geared at tween audiences, any age would enjoy it. Filled with Pirates, my girls enjoyed it (so it is also not just for boys). The plot was fun, light and engaging and we had a great time reading this as a family!

I would recommended this book to anyone who likes adventure, pirate or wants to read a book that will take them on a journey like none before! As a parent I enjoyed the themes of friendship and loyalty. I know that this is a book that any family would love to share together!
