To help cultivate and encourage a love of reading in the new academic year, Sylvan Learning’s Book Adventure is teaming up with the family adventure movie Dolphin Tale to launch a new reading contest with prizes for both individual students and classrooms. Opening on September 23, 2011, the movieDolphin Tale is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie is inspired by the amazing true story of a brave dolphin who was rescued off the Florida coast, and the compassionate people who banded together to save her life.
Sylvan Learning, North America’s leading provider of tutoring to students of all ages, grades and skill levels, will run this contest on the Book Adventure website from September 8th through October 14th, 2011. Children aged 8-14 can join the individual contest for a chance to win prizes, including movie tickets! Teachers and their classes can participate by joining the classroom contest.
“Strong reading skills are incredibly important for all subjects in school, and we hope students will use this free, fun contest to continue to improve their reading ability,” says Dr. Richard E. Bavaria, senior vice president of education outreach for Sylvan Learning. “The more children read, the more they’ll enjoy reading, and the better readers they’re likely to become,” he said.
The contest offers exciting prizes, including:
· Individual Prizes - The winners of the individual contest can win prizes, including a 4-pack of movie tickets, plush dolphins and movie posters.
· Classroom Prize: One winning classroom will receive four free movie passes for each student (for a class of up to 30 students.)
