Book Review - Where's The Beach

About the Book
Zeke, the zebra, is out for a new adventure. The snow is gone and he wants to try the beach. As we now know, Zeke puts his heart and soul into whatever he undertakes. He takes just a moment to pack, then heads out on his bike for the beach. He soon runs across a sale in town and purchases a surfboard and a map, loads his bike, and off he goes. It's not long before he discovers that the map has flown off his bike and that he is lost. Finding a spot in the warm sunshine, he stops for a moment to think about what has happened, only to discover that some ants were having a bite to eat. He jumped onto his bike, and still not ready to quit, found a sign that returned him on his way to the beach. Zeke enjoyed his day at the beach, and stayed cool in the water. He was a success just as he had planned, and went on his way back home.

My Take on the Book
The main character is a fun loving zebra named Zeke. He wants to go to the beach. He purchases a surfboard,  map, flippers and beach toys. So once he has all his purchases , he boards his tricycle and heads off in search of the beach. He expects it will be easy to locate as he has a map, however unfortunately he leaves his map in the store. So poor Zeke ends up in the desert . He is so disappointed. Luckily he locates a sign that takes him through a tunnel which leads him to the beach. You can imagine his joy at this discovery.

Once Zeke arrives on the beach he is so excited he runs into the water and makes a huge belly flop. He did not know a belly flop contest was going and and he wins! Zeke proceeds to do all the things he planned to do: make sand sculptures, snorkel, surfboard, ride his tube, make sand angels , swim and even take a nap on the beach. He is so happy to have such a wonderful day at the beach even though  he had a difficult journey .

When his day is done, he boards his tricycle again and heads home.

The author uses delightful illustrations and rhyme to keep the reader and listener engaged.

This is such an enchanting book to read and any child who has ever gone to a beach can  identify with Zeke.

Enjoy this wonderful book!
