Book Review - Beer Belly Blues

About the BookWomen tend to believe that men become ‘couch potatoes’ at an earlier age than women, and it’s a fact that as men age they do experience fatigue, loss of lean muscle mass, decline in strength, increased body fat, aching joints, cardiovascular problems…the list goes on. The truth is, depressingly so, that the aging process actually starts to take place in our 30’s and although it may be years before the damage is visible, it is nonetheless happening and getting ready to rear its ugly head! In Beer Belly Blues by best-selling author Brad King, he cleverly blends humorous tales with concise layman’s prose to explain the complex underlying cause of age-related changes in men and offers life-changing information on how to safely recapture the energy, and yes even the body, of our youth once we have the right knowledge and strategy on our side.

Research confirms that these physical and emotional changes are due in large part to a drastic decline in male hormone levels – a phenomenon known as andropause. Not only do men lose approximately ten percent of their testosterone levels each decade after age 30, but by the time they hit 60 they typically produce 60 percent less testosterone than they did at age 20. Wow, and women thought menopause was bad! As if this isn’t tough enough, at the same time men are losing testosterone they experience a rise in the female hormone estrogen – which undoubtedly contributes to ‘man boobs!’ Can it get any worse? Yes, it can. The most frightening fact to come out of this research is that mortality rates are 88% higher in men with low testosterone compared with men who have normal testosterone levels.

Well, thankfully, there is help out there. Thanks to Brad King’s many years in the health industry we learn in his book that not all supplements are created equal and that a supplement is only as good as the quality of its starting ingredients as well as the manufacturing practices used to create it. Brad has developed his own stringent criteria for the exact end product – which means he has done all the necessary homework to ensure men get the right formula to fit their particular needs and his top quality nutritional supplements have won many gold medal awards.

My Take on the Book
This book is insightful and tells it like it is. As a man, I have to say that I liked this book because it was very open and honest about what men need to do and why they need to do it. I have been proscratinating in regards to working out since I had my knee surgery in April, but I know that I need to do this. This book acted as an impetus to get me going again. I have noticednthat even in my 30's that my body is changing such as what the author explains, and though I do not like this, it is a fact of life and something that I must live with, but this does not mean that I cannot stay on top of it. This was a great book!

If this book sounds like a book you would like in your own library you can find it on Amazon!
