About the Book
Sports Illustrated Kids reveals the coolest and most rarely seen parts of the sports world in ALL ACCESS. Kids get an inside look at state-of-the-art locker rooms, star athletes' houses, and their amazing collections. Readers will be awed by how a stadium transforms from a baseball diamond to an ice rink, as well as how a football starts as a piece of hide to becoming game-ready. Sports fans of all ages will love the lift-and-look features that allow them to literally peel back the layers for behind-the-scenes access that only SI Kids can provide.
My Take on the Book
If your child enjoys sports, I think this book would teach many new facts and provide hours of reading enjoyment. The book is divided into three sections: athletes, places and gear. There are hundreds of detailed photographs with well written text. The overlay pages do an excellent job of providing additional information with the addition of fun.
A very interesting overlay showed a "monster truck" weighing 11,000 pounds. When the overlay is removed, the reader is able to view the skeleton of the truck with all the parts and labels for each section. Another section describes in detail how a football is made. the overlay shows the step by step process which I found very interesting.
I believe you and your child will thoroughly enjoy reading and learning from this book.
