Synopsis:

My Take on the Series
I grew up with this series. Before kids were really active as eco-agents, this series challenged all kids to do their part to be a planeteer and help the planet to be stronger. That being said I loved seeing the entire series becoming available. I had wished that this series was available when my kids were young. Even though they are older now, I shared some of the episodes with them and while I think they thought that it was a bit young for them, it definitely brought me back. The series is timeless in the message and I love how it gets kids active to make changes in their own communities!

DVD Review - Rick and Morty: The Complete Seasons 1-5

About the Series

Rick and Morty is the critically acclaimed, half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick Sanchez is living with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly bringing her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades. My Take on the Series

I’ve gotten a peek at the Blu-Ray release of the complete fifth season of Rick and Morty and it is definitely worth checking out.

This series bluray has a ton of amazing special features. Picking up this set will give you access to all ten episodes of season 5 as well as the other seasons too. This is a must have for any Rick & Morty fan. Inside of the bonus features you will also get some cool featurettes like “Fighting Gravity” which is exclusive to the release of Rick and Morty season 5. This is a feature where Dan Harmon and the crew of Rick and Morty talk about the challenges that went into making the season during the pandemic, not an easy endeavor to say the least. Aside from re-watching the episodes of season 5, this feature alone makes the set worth picking up.

My Take on the DVD
This is a great season! I loved seeing how well the characters came together to get out of the mirrorverse as well as fixing and freeing the speed force throughout this season. I loved seeing all of the new characters throughout the season, but also the characters that we know and love. Each season for me gets better and better, but this season stood out when it came to looking at Iris West-Allen and how the mirrorverse impacts her and her relationships with others. On top of this, you get to see some characters leaving the show and some coming back and in the end you really get a great season that allows you to look forward to season eight. All-in-all if you love The Flash, you will love this season too!

My Take on the Blu-ray
I was a fan of Kate Kane in season one but in season two I am even more drawn in by the acting, the characters and more. Each episode, while dark, as any Bat story tends to be, you will see a glimmer that brings you back each week. The episodes are action-packed, you get drama, mystique and more. I have enjoyed seeing Javicia Leslie embodying the Batwoman role and seeing her develop into the role. No person taking on the cowl will be able to fill a past Batperson's shoes right away. This is why they have a great team which we see in this series. You also see the humanity that this season's Batwoman has and that she is not fallible which makes her relatable. All-in0all, this was a great season and I am looking forward to season three!

DVD Review - Mr. Mom

About the Movie
While Caroline Butler (Teri Garr, Tootsie) re-enters the workforce and becomes the rising star of her advertising agency, her newly unemployed husband Jack (Michael Keaton, Night Shift) finds himself a new job … as a stay-at-home dad! But if Jack thinks his old career in the automotive industry was tough, he has no idea what's waiting for him at home: the ins and outs of dropping the kids off at school, soap operas, woobies, babies with chili, a clean-up on aisle seven and a vacuum cleaner named "Jaws. ", Not to mention the seedy neighborhood drama!

Inspired, in part, by writer John Hughes’ (Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles) own life lessons as a clueless stay-at-home father, Mr. Mom is sure to have every parent slapping their foreheads with sympathy, as they slap their knees with laughter!




My Take on the Movie
This movie brings me back and it is funny to watch it now that I am a father. Michael Keaton does a great job at showing that Dads have what it takes to stay at home after some twists and turns. The movie has a lot of laughs and touching moments throughout and I am so glad that I was able to watch this again, this time with my own kids! We all had a blast!

My Take on the Movie
This was a very cute movie, and though there are really no words in the movie, the message comes across without fail. The movie itself is very funny but also has a ton of heart. My kids and I watched this together and we loved watching these new heroins work to thwart a very cruel villain while trying to save their master. The movie was fast-paced and my kids and I loved the characters and the amount of heart that each of the characters brought to the screen. By the end of this film, my girls and I were wanting to see more of Shaun and his family and you leave the film with a smile on your face and with your heart warmed through-and-through!

Movie Review - McFarland USA

My Take on the Movie
This is a great movie that really breaks down the color barriers and shows Latino Americans really achieving so much. I truly appreciate that Disney took on this story as it was family friendly and one that while I never had heard of in the past, it was one that I was excited to have found! It was a well written movie that was heart-warming and inspirational. You will be rooting on the team and hoping that this group of students are able to achieve all of their dreams! The power of this film is in the relationships that it portrays. Relationships between the Coach and players, players to players and of the Coach and players to the larger community too! If you missed this in the theater, pick it up today and see and experience this story for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

Movie Review - The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

About the Movie
After the Dragon leaves the Lonely Mountain, the people of Lake-town see a threat coming. Orcs, dwarves, elves and people prepare for war. Bilbo sees Thorin going mad and tries to help. Meanwhile, Gandalf is rescued from the Necromancer's prison and his rescuers realize who the Necromancer is.

As the finale to Peter Jackson's epic Tolkien odyssey comes to a close, this last movie in the Hobbit trilogy follows Bilbo and the dwarves one last time, as the armies of the necromancer come towards the Lonely Mountain. Men, elves, dwarves, orcs, and goblins come to sword and bow point with each other in the last instalment from Peter Jackson, The Battle of the Five Armies.

Bilbo and the Company of King Thorin Oakenshield are forced into war by the Orcs of Gundabad and Moria lead by Azog and Bolg and chief leader Sauron. Its a remarkable battle with the Dwarves of Erebor and the Iron Hills, The Elves of the Woodland Realm, The people of Laketown, The eagles lead by Radaghast and Beorn and the Orcs of Gundabad and Moria. How will this battle end?



As Smaug breathes fire and destruction onto Laketown, another sort of dragon-danger threatens Thorin Oakenshield - the gold madness that seized his Grandsire Thror, King Under the Mountain of old. The people of Laketown flee to the ruins of Dale, in the shadow of the Lonely Mountain, only to be greeted by an army of Elves led by Thranduil, marching there too. Asking Thorin for their own fair share of the gold, Men and Elves are answered by Dwarvish defiance. Thorin seems overmatched until an army led by Dwarf-Lord Dain, Thorin's kinsman, approaches from the Iron Hills to the northeast. Meantime, Gandalf, imprisoned in the ruins of Dol Guldûr, seems about to be finished off by the Nine Ring Wraiths, led by the deadliest of their lot, Witch King of the ancient, evil realm of Angmar. And what on Middle Earth will happen when an enormous army of Orcs and Wargs suddenly pours out of tunnels under the earth, surrounding and threatening doom to all the other armies gathered at the Lonely Mountain? Orcs and their Fell Beasts, Elves, Dwarves, Men - Five Armies join battle, and the result will determine the fate of the North in the gathering War of the Ring.

After seizing Erebor from Smaug, Smaug burns down Lake-town and the aftermath causes the people of Lake-town to take up refuge in the ruins of Dale which is in the shadow of Erebor. Gandalf is inprisoned by The Necromancer and is eventually rescued and The Necromancer reveals himself as Sauron. Bilbo and Company must protect Erebor from the Elves of Mirkwood, the Gundabad and Moria Orcs, the Men of Lake-town.

Bilbo and Company are forced to engage in a war against an array of combatants and keep the Lonely Mountain from falling into the hands of a rising darkness.








My Take on the Movie
This was a great close to the the epic Hobbit movie saga. Stunning cinematography and graphic displays making monsters and the entire story come together! While there was some holes in the end in regards to a lack of closure in my opinion, the story itself was sound and tied up the movies themselves. The movie was filled with amazing action, monsters and more. I know that with all of the action I was wondering how they would finish up this trilogy. Also, you wonder how the main villain will be taken care of...but you have to bide your time to wait and see what happens! In the end, this is a great movie that you will love watching! Also, get ready to turn up the surround sound as this movie has some amazing sound effects too!

My Take on the Movie
This was a visually stunning movie that had a great story along with it. I loved the connection that this had to Midsummer Night's Dream. As a person who loves the theater and Shakespearean plays, it was nice to see some new life shaken into a new cartoon! Filled also with come great talent, you will enjoy every minute of this movie! My girls are already asking me to play it again and if that is not an indication of success I do not know what is...

My Take on the Book
This is the third of the Night at the Museum movies and if you liked the first two I would have to say that you will continue to like this too! My daughters and I went and found it to be very funny. I will say that personally it was hard to know that this was the last movie ever made by Robin Williams, but even he did a great job again as Teddy Roosevelt.

The movie shares some good family fun, with laughs, and some good messages too. This is definitely a movie that you can share with your whole family and enjoy together!

DVD Review - Dumb and Dumber To

My Take on the Movie
For anyone that loved the first movie, don't expect that this movie will be the same, as it won't. That being said I will say that the movie was good though and very funny too. You do get similar humor throughout and with the acing of Carrey and Daniels you get a great team that play so well off each other and really do bring their characters back to life. I know that there are some that did not like the movie, but that being said I will say that this movie lived up to what I expected the movie to be. While they tried to hold the movie to the same standard as the first movie, they didn't need to as I think it could stand on its' own. That being said, the movie is not going to win any oscars, but it will provide some good laughs throughout!

My Take on the Movie
My wife was a Spanish major in college and taught Spanish to Elementary kids for a number of years so my family has been very versed in the idea and traditions of The Day of the Dead for some time. That being said though I was intrigued at the idea of this movie and looked forward to seeing it. After watching it with the kids I have to say that the movie was well made and had some great connections to the culture and tradition that surrounds this holiday. The story was great and while there were a few parts that my youngest was a bit scared of, she still enjoyed the movie too. This was a great family movie that I would recommend to all!

Blu-ray Review - Get On Up

About the Movie
In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42's Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get On Up. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves, and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Boseman is joined in the drama by Nelsan Ellis, Dan Aykroyd, Viola Davis, Craig Robinson, Octavia Spencer, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter and Jill Scott.



My Take on the Movie
WOW! This was a movie that opened up the life of such an iconic person. While I did not know a lot about James Brown, this movie really made me reconsider what I thought I knew about the man and his music. You really see James Brown as a visionary in this movie and you see him as fearless in all of the risks that he took as he stood up to people that told him that he could not or should not do what he felt that he should. This was a great movie that will make you want to know more about this amazing musician!

My Take on the Movie
This was a movie that was not only a great mystery, but it also was filled with great characters that keep you connected from beginning to end. David was a character that kept me wondering. For quite some time I found myself trying to figure out his story and where he would go in the end. Would he be a hero or villain? The movie was action packed and reminded me of some of my favorite movies from the 80's and 90's that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me come back for more. I hope that this will not be the last we see David's character!

My Take on the Movie
This was a great movie that added much to the first movie in my opinion! I loved how you get to meet back up with your favorite characters from the first movie but also get reintroduced to new ones too. I also appreciated that you were able to learn even more about dragons and what makes them tick. The movie is heartwarming and fun and you get to truly see unconditional love and trust shown throughout the movie. It was also a fun adventure too with some protagonists that were definitely evil and the writers in the movie also put in some funny parts too. All-in-all this was a fun movie for the whole family that I would highly recommend!

My Take on the Blu-Ray
This was a Blu-Ray that was a ton of fun. My kids would not stop singing through this and your kids will not either. My eldest actually brought this out at a slumber party and found that all of the girls loved singing along and having a blast while watching along with this family friendly film. They also enjoyed getting to know Jewel's family as well as the kids of Blu and Jewel. At the end my kids and their friends all stated that they hoped that this would not be the last of the movies!
