Book Review - That's Not Your Mommy Anymore

About the Book

The Zombie Apocalypse is coming! The Zombie Apocalypse is coming! This isn’t the first time you’ve been warned. Although you’ll never guess who is now under attack—moms! Telling the story of one sweet and nurturing mother who has transformed into one of the flesh-eating undead, That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore is a twisted and hilarious take on the classic rhyming children’s book genre. “It’s Dr. Seuss meets Night of the Living Dead,” explains author Matt Mogk, founder of the Zombie Research Society, which boasts nearly 55,000 fans on Facebook.

That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore is also a learning tool, teaching the telltale signs that Mom is now a shambling, decaying corpse hungry for humans. So if she’s serving brains instead of bran for breakfast, you better run—that’s not your mommy anymore. “As a little kid, I suspected my mom might be a zombie,”
Mogk says. “Turns out she wasn’t, but now I’m dedicated to helping people of all ages prepare for the day their moms try to eat them.”

Rabid zombie fans will go crazy for this parody, packed with Mogk’s many clever references to zombie pop culture and films featuring the undead, such as Dead Clowns, Dawn of the Dead and Zombie.

It’s so deliciously hilarious, you’ll just want to eat it up!

Through his work, Matt knows there will be tens of millions of zombie moms in the coming pandemic, so he’s dedicated his life and this little book to helping people escape the wrath of a zombie mommy. He lives in Los Angeles.

My Take on the Book
Matt Mogk has written a funny rhyming book about a sweet nurturing mommy who becomes a zombie. How did the boy in the story know his mommy was turning into a a zombie?

One day his mommy had kind eyes, she baked pies, sang sweetly and did not act strangely . However his mommy began to change. His mommy's face looked like an apple core ,and she clawed at the kitchen door. She shambled across the floor with a voice that sounded like daddy's snore. And oh, no , mommy is eating brains.

The character in the book warns the reader that if you see changes in his mommy like he did, to find your backpack and pack it with food. Next, grab your flashlight and run! You may find other children in the same predicament hiding from their zombie mommies too.

The artist did a fabulous job illustrating the book with bright and colorful drawings and showing the characters feelings through expressive facial expressions.
