About the Book
Though clumsy and sometimes clueless, Clucky is a sympathetic and loving hen. Her three chicks love her unconditionally and would not trade her for the world; but when a malicious rumor begins to circulate in the henhouse, the chicks' understanding and compassion are at stake. This endearing tale told in verse beautifully depicts the eternal and forgiving love of children.
My Take on the Book
Clucky the hen ,is a mother to three adorable chicks. She loves her chicks ,as any human mother loves their children.Clucky keeps her chicks safe under her wing and they know she loves them.
However Clucky is very clumsy. She lays her eggs the wrong way so her chicks are born with bumps and bruises as they hatch. While singing, Clucky creates a storm and the chicks become soaked with water. She plays hide and seek with her chicks but becomes distracted and forgets to find them until hours later.
Because of all these mishaps ,a rumor circulates that Clucky is a terrible mother. The rumor spreads all over the world and even into space.Clucky decides she must find a new mother for her chicks, someone more responsible. However the chicks will not leave their mother hen. They know she loves them and she keeps them safe.
This book represents a theme of accepting individual differences. By tolerating an individual's right to be different, we can bring about peace and break down barriers across our cultures and our world.
