Gain Better Posture With BetterBack

How is your back? And your neck? If you are at all like me, probably not too great. I struggle with this on a daily basis and work to find ways to better my posture as I know that this will help me in the end.

I recently learned about a great new product, BetterBack, that is still currently in the KickStarter phase, but it is coming! BetterBack allows you to effortlessly sit in perfect posture, easing back pain.

While I have not yet tried this, the videos and information on the BetterBack Kickstarter site looks great, and I hope to be able to bring a review to you in the future once they are ready for shipping!

The ReelCase ( @reelcase ) Helps You No Longer Miss Photos!

ReelCase

 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

How did the idea of ReelCase come about?
Founder Zach Chavez was at a motorsport event and found himself constantly putting his phone away and taking it out to capture photos of the riders. This resulted in a lot of missed photos and videos. He instantly thought to himself how he could create a smartphone device that brought more convenience and accessibility to users. When he got back to his car, he began drawing sketches of a smartphone case. A lanyard integrated into a case seemed like the perfect idea.

When he brought the ReelCase idea to his buddy Dan Brandt, he too was highly intrigued by the idea. They decided to partner up and ReelCase was born. They began designing prototypes and with the help of a design team and a manufacturer began testing and modifying several different prototypes.

ReelCase

With all the smartphone cases on the market was sets ReelCase apart?
The unique difference point for ReelCase is the worlds first ever retractable lanyard integrated into the case. The retractable lanyard allows users to access their phone like never before. ReelCase is more than just protection for your smartphone, its a device that allows you to stay in top of your daily life without worrying about the trouble of finding and accessing your smartphone. There is so much we can do with our smartphones these days from mobile pictures, texting, games, internet, and accessing an array of applications, our smartphone is a necessity throughout our daily life. The mission at ReelCase is to provide easy access and convenience to smartphone users.

ReelCase

Could you tell me about the process of making ReelCase?
The process of making ReelCase has been our most difficult task to date. We started creating prototypes in our own homes first. We began by gluing retractable reels onto the back of smartphone cases to get an idea of how the ReelCase would operate and function. From there numerous sketches were drawn that showed the reel mechanism integrated into the case. With the help of an engineer we began to design more advanced prototypes. After developing our first functional prototypes and drawing CAD designs on the computer of what the final design would look like, we got in contact with a manufacturer who could begin the injection mold tooling for ReelCase. It took several different prototype variations and refinements from our manufacture but before long we had a functional Reel mechanism that worked gracefully. Getting the retractable lanyard to function correctly was the most difficult part of the process, but we just settled on our final prototypes that have been working outstanding.

ReelCase

What phones are the ReelCase compatible with right now?
iphone 5/5s

Do you plan to expand in the future?
yes we do. In the very near future we plan on beginning the tool for the iPhone 6 followed by the samsung models. We also have different products and variations to our product in mind. We want to create an attachable and detachable reel mechanism that can be put on the back of phones or cases. We also want to add a clip to the reel so you can attach it to your belt loop or other objects such as backpacks or purses.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with our community?
KickStarter is a great platform for launching products such as ReelCase. For those that don't know what KickStarter is, its a crowd funding platform where entrepreneurs go to post their ideas, inventions, and creations. The kickstarter community or crowd gives donations to the campaign in exchange for a reward such as a ReelCase t-shirt or case. KickStarter will allow us to cover funds we have not yet payed for such as the injection mold tooling and additional cases we make such as the iPhone6. So please get the word out there to everyone about ReelCase. Share our page, donate to our campaign, and help spread the love about our product. lets get ReelCase out into the market and into peoples hands so we can start changing the way we use our smartphones for the better.

Help Bring Vanishing Ink : A Novel With Illustrations to Life #dadchat

Vanishing Ink is a hardcover novel about a lazy, washed-up magician who will soon be chosen to save the world from disappearing.

We've all seen a film, read a book, or even heard an oral story that changed our lives. I've studied the structure of many of these classic stories and I've written Vanishing Ink to hopefully stand among them. Several reviewers have had a sneak peak of the entire story and you can read their impressions on the back cover:
What is Vanishing Ink?
It's a 207 page novel about Von Gold, a lazy, washed-up magician. He wishes he could snap his non-magical finger and change the world. But the mistakes of his past haunt him, tainting his hope of ever succeeding again. He’s about to be separated from his cozy bed, the people he loves, and yes, he ends up sleeping in the town dump. As his own life crumbles, so does the world around him. Pieces of the world literally start disappearing. He thinks he’s seeing things, but he’s about to find out that the beings who created this world have chosen him - a lazy illusionist - to save the world. Von Gold’s transformation from lazy and washed-up to what he ultimately becomes will both inspire and delight.

You can preview the book online at scottwiser.com/VanishingInk, where the author is currently releasing 2 pages every day. If he reaches $100,000, he'll release the whole thing at the end of this campaign and you won't have to wait any longer to read it.

You can support the Kickstarter campaign here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scottwiser/vanishing-ink-a-novel-with-illustrations

About The Author
Scott Wiser is a character animator for film, games, and (story-driven) commercials. His ultimate goal is to develop feature films with stories that change lives. Traditionally, he believes books are the perfect place to start to achieve his dream! The first book he self-published received some positive reviews, but he knew he could do much better with Vanishing Ink, so he put in the intense study and years of work to make it happen.

Minimalist Duffle bag raises 200k in 2 weeks on Kickstarter!

Inspired by the classic barrel duffels of the 20th Century, The Bomber Barrel design team set out to create a timeless and stylish everyday bag suitable for carrying anything. The Bomber Barrel redefines style by presenting itself in a modern and simple barrel structure: purely austere and clean.

The Bomber Barrel is an ultra grade nylon duffel bag designed for today’s active man; the athlete, the adventurer, the professional or the minimalist. It was created to accommodate the lifestyles of the ambitious, the motivated and the driven. With its minimal design, lightweight and black-colored nylon ripstop; it’s endlessly versatile. The jet black color creates depth and radiates its bearer’s extravagant elegance.

Although most duffel bags hold everyday essentials, they’re usually just too big and bulky and unnecessarily heavy. The Bomber Barrel, weighing in at only 14 ounces, holds everything a man-on-the-go is likely to need thanks to a streamlined design. The main compartment holds clothes and shoes while an interior side pocket keeps one’s phone, wallet and other valuables close at hand.

The Barrel Bomber team is working directly with their manufacturers eliminating all the usual middlemen found in manufacturing. This allows them to eliminate unnecessary costs and retail markups insuring a very affordable price without compromising on quality. Indeed, Bomber Barrel doesn’t believe in retail markups and the supply chains that dictate them. All of their bags are offered at wholesale pricing to the general public. While these steep discounts are already generous, backers of this crowdfunding campaign will enjoy special early bird pricing never to be seen again.

This crowdfunding campaign ends on December 12, 2014

Cool New Kickstarter Campaign For New @Jyrobike!

The biggest innovation to bike riding in the 21st Century is launching on Kickstarter, and it was initially designed by a group of students at Dartmouth University. Fear and frustration while learning to ride a bike will be a thing of the past thanks to the world’s first and only Auto Balance Bicycle from Jyrobike, which launched its crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter today (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/529668138/jyrobike-auto-balance-bicycle), June 3, 2014. Balance whilst pedaling is the most important skill a child needs to master when learning to ride a bicycle. However, they can become easily discouraged after a few spills and parents have aching backs from trying to balance the bike for them.

Jyrobike designs and manufactures Auto Balance Bicycles with a unique Control Hub built into the front wheel. Inside the Control Hub is a motor driven gyroscope, which when turned on, keeps the rider balanced and upright while they are pedaling, even when they tip or wobble. The first Jyrobikes are aimed at 3-8 year olds and will be available in 12” and 16” wheel sizes.

For most observers Jyrobike has a magical, almost impossible quality, however the technology is actually based upon the basic and well-known scientific laws found in all gyroscopes or flywheels. When turned on, it acts like a gyroscope or gyro and provides a stabilizing force, working just as gyros do to keep helicopters stable in the air, boats stable at sea and spaceships stable in orbit.

“For the past two years, we’ve been perfecting the innovation which we discovered from an incredible group of students and we’ve been working on a new bicycle aimed at helping children learn to ride in a single afternoon - by any measure, our goal is no mean feat,” said Jyrobike CEO and founder, Robert Bodill. “On behalf of the team at Jyrobike, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our first products through Kickstarter.”

The Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise an initial funding goal of $100,000 USD and will offer several stretch goals after the initial funding goal is met. During the 30-day campaign, pledgers will have the opportunity to fund and pre-order items like the complete Jyrobike, the magic Control Hub (without the bike), a limited edition Jyrobike, and more. Following the Kickstarter campaign, the first Jyrobikes for direct consumer sales are expected to hit the US market by Q1 2015.

Jyrobike was initially created by students at Dartmouth University and has been developed in a joint effort by cycling and technology experts in the UK, the Netherlands and the United States, led by CEO and founder, Robert Bodill.

Jyrobike is built on the core principle that bikes become inherently stable at higher speeds because the faster a wheel spins, the more balanced it becomes. Working on this assumption, the research and development team experimented by putting a gyroscope - a faster, spinning wheel - inside a slower wheel - e.g. the front wheel of the bicycle. As part of the process, Jyrobike invented a patented Control Hub that is able to intelligently generate an intrinsic stabilizing force that resists the toppling force of gravity on the bicycle.

The Control Hub behaves according to standard gyroscope rules and resists any angular force acting about its transverse axis. That is why it is able to resist toppling caused by gravity. The principle of gyroscope precession dictates that counteracting the handlebar movement that follows any lean action will in turn generate a counter force to that of gravity and correct the lean to restore the bike upright.

The Control Hub will feature three stabilization settings which can be adjusted accordingly as the rider builds their skills and confidence. Parents can also use an optional wireless controller to increase/decrease the balance settings while their child is in motion – providing additional stability or easing them into balancing themselves. Once a child has mastered riding the Jyrobike without the use of the Control Hub, the gyro can be removed to transform the Jyrobike into a light-weight kids’ bicycle or the Control Hub can be substituted with a standard bike wheel from Jyrobike.

“Learning to ride a bicycle can be tough, but learning is one of life’s greatest moments… That exact moment when a person realizes that they just went from ‘can’t ride’ to ‘can ride’. It is nothing less than life inspiring,” added Bodill. “Our inspiration comes from that perfect, wonderful moment of joy and freedom. Our passion is designing a bicycle that transports as many people as possible directly to that moment of delight, in the quickest and easiest way possible”.

Thoughtfull Toys Launches First Toy Line on Kickstarter

Modarri: The Toy Car Reinvented
There are high quantities of “Throw Away” toys in the market place with closed play patterns. The owners of this company have had success in creating beautiful toys that parents don’t mind having out for company, but also have strong open ended play value to help kids EXPLORE MORE. There is also a desire in the marketplace for durable toys, as parents tire of toys breaking too quickly. This company will introduce our toys into this slot.

Modarri: The Toy Car Reinvented

The company is launching Modarri, a line of toys cars that’s reinventing the toy car space; they’re sleek and sexy looking so will appeal to kids age 8 or 9 and up and dads (not chunky and clunky like those designed for younger kids), are modular with a cool hex tool so you can mash them up and make your own look, and they’re super drivable with a suspension built in.

Modarri: The Toy Car Reinvented

Here’s the link to the Kickstarter page, http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1344682921/modarri-the-toy-car-reinvented?ref=live, please watch the video! I think it’s so fun. It’s already gotten a hot start this morning.
