Movie Review - All of My Heart

About the Movie
A young caterer’s life suddenly changes course when she inherits a country home and learns she must share it with a career-obsessed Wall Street trader. At first, these opposites do not attract, but feelings begin to change when they find themselves having to work side-by-side to restore their newly acquired home. Ranked the highest rated Hallmark Valentine's Day movie, All of My Heart is one to love!


My Take on the Movie
Lacey Chabert has acted in many Hallmark channel movies. She always does a convincing job in portraying her character. She brings the character in this movie alive as well.

Our two main characters are totally opposite in their goals in life, until they inherit a home that they must share. This becomes the "recipe" for living together, restoring the home, and learning what truly is important in life. 

There are some creative avenues to earn money and some realization that the high powered business world is not all it is supposed to be when your heart changes. The characters opposite tendencies become one and there is love in the air.

I loved seeing Ed Asner in the movie.

I enjoyed the movie and I think you will too.

Movie Review - So You Said Yes

About the Movie
When Annabelle, the owner of a specialty bridal shop, falls for Sam, the son of her fierce bridal shop competition, she must fend off Sam's mother's attempts at sabotage to be with the man she loves. Starring Kellie Martin, So You Said Yes is a romantic comedy you won't want to miss.

My Take on the Movie
This was a movie that was fun to watch. The enjoyment comes from the story line and actors. 

Kelly Martin does a great job playing Annabelle, an owner of a bridal shop. .She loves vintage clothes and has a good eye for choosing wedding attire. In walks a handsome man who she becomes involved with although they are very different. However his mother owns a rival high end wedding shop in the same town.


The movie is funny. As you see the main characters' love bloom , you also see the mother of the man Annabelle loves creating havoc. It makes you wonder if the couple will be able to resolve issues and become a couple in marriage.


As in all good Hallmark movies, there is resolution between the characters. It is interesting to see how the rivalry disappears and acceptance is acquired. It makes you believe that opposites do attract and can find happiness.

Movie Review - Ice Sculpture Christmas

About the Movie
As a little girl, Callie Shaw always knew she wanted to be an amazing chef. Now, after spending years trying to get her foot in the door, she's losing faith that she has what it takes to succeed. Is it time to give up? Working as the entry-level new hire in her hometown's country club kitchen, Callie finally gets the opportunity to make a name for herself through a culinary Christmas ice-sculpture contest! The only problem is that she's paired with David Manning, a handsome, wealthy entrepreneur who believes whole-heartedly in Callie's talents but knows nothing about ice sculpture. If David can learn the ropes in time and help Callie believe she has all the right stuff, Callie just might enjoy a Christmas to remember, bringing her closer to a man who truly loves her and achieving her lifelong dream.


My Take on the Movie
This was an enjoyable and interesting movie to watch. Our two main characters Callie and David meet as children but the story's content deals with their adult life and meeting once again.

David has had a life of wealth and following in his father's footsteps even though his heart was not in it. Callie wants to become a chef but the job she takes is one of a dishwasher until she proves herself to the main chef of the country club.

It is a story showing life's challenges, dreams , and believing in oneself. It shows the viewer how your dreams can come true with perseverance and faith in yourself and your abilities. The movie also shows how family love and friendship is more important than one's job.

This is a nice new holiday movie to add to your Christmas movie collection.

Movie Review - 'Tis the Season for Love

About the Movie
Beth Baker is an out-of-work actress stuck in New York City without her friends at Christmas time. She decides to return home to the quaint small town she escaped 10 years before and finds a place far different than the hamlet she left. She suddenly finds performing possibilities and even romance that kind of blow her away. Will the holidays prove to be as magical for Beth as they appear, or is it doomed to disappear as quickly as it arrived for a lady who is ready to take chances she could never have imagined a decade before. Then again, this is the kind of thing that seems to happen during the Christmas season all the time.
My Take on the Movie
Beth lived her life in the town of Kern until she graduated and moved to New York City hoping to acquire a position in a Broadway play. Her plan did not work out as she hoped. She returned to Kern to spend Christmas with her mother and then all kinds of wonderful unexpected events happened to her.


Beth learns she has other talents besides acting on Broadway. She uses her love of children, her singing abilities, and her talents in acting to bring the children's Christmas pageant to the town. Beth becomes a problem solver when challenges arise. She allows herself to trust her instincts and take on new challenges . Beth overcomes some obstacles in her past to allow herself to dream and hope for a life she did not imagine.


Of course there is friendship, a love interest, and good old fashioned holiday joy in this movie. I enjoyed this new Hallmark movie.

DVD Review - Christmas Trade

About the Movie
Including all-star cast Denise Richards (Drop Dead Gorgeous), Tom Arnold (True Lies) and William Baldwin (Backdraft), CHRISTMAS TRADE tells the story of a single father and his son both wrapped up in their own issues until a mysterious toy causes them to live the holidays in each other’s shoes.



My Take on the Movie
This was a fun, family friendly movie that while, not stellar acting, still was enjoyable and brought laughs to our family. I had never heard of this before but the story was light and was a nice way to start off the holiday season!

DVD Review - Cedar Cove: Season 2

About the Movie
Andie MacDowell is back as Judge Olivia Lockhart, who finds herself in the middle of her small seaside town's drama, relationships and excitement. Now happily back together with Jack, Olivia becomes the stable force who holds him together when his troubled son Eric returns. As Olivia reaches new milestones in her relationship with Jack, she remains a reliable best friend to Grace and a supportive mom to Justine, proving this judge continues to capture the spirit of the small town in her big heart.


My Take on the Movie
Season 2 of Cedar Cove has all the drama of Season 1. Judge Olivia Lockhart proves in many instances how intelligent and fair she is as a respected judge. She also shows us the side of her that is vulnerable to a love relationship , compassionate with family and friends, frustrated with life's events , and hurt when the people she relies on are deceitful and dishonest.

There are complicated relationships, mystery, forgiveness, and of course like in Season 1 problem solving by the characters. Each episode entices the viewer to want to know more about the characters.
By the end of Season 2, the viewer will be asking questions about Olivia's love life, what will happen with the couple who had the baby, and if Olivia's daughter will enter into a new relationship.

Watching the DVD with no commercials keeps the viewer engaged.

If you enjoyed Season 1 of Cedar Cove, you will want to see Season 2 using the DVD. If you saw Season 2 on the Hallmark Channel last year, the DVD is a great avenue to review the events in preparation for Season 3 in July of 2015.

DVD Review - Mom's Day Away

About the Movie
Stay-at-home mom Laura Miller (Bonnie Somerville) chose family life over a glamorous career. Her husband Michael (James Tupper), a workaholic realtor, eternally conducts business on his cell phone while her 17-year-old son (Iain Belcher) and 12-year-old daughter (Kaitlyn Bernard) are absorbed in their young life dramas. It's Mother's Day weekend and still nobody is paying attention to Laura's needs. Excitement is injected into Laura's life when her dazzling and affluent BFF Trish (Ona Grauer) shows up and whisks her off on an adventure-filled trip to a lavish resort.

Over this Mother's Day weekend, Laura has an awakening, making up for lost time by overindulging in the resort's luxurious offerings and rekindling her career aspirations. As Trish begins to reassess her own life choices during their time away, Laura considers that living her dreams won't bring true happiness unless her family is along for the adventure.




My Take on the Movie
So what does a mom do? The list might include: laundry, cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, making lunches, gardening, carpooling, budgeting, organizing the vacations or outings, etc.
So what happens when a mom decides that her family does not appreciate her? She may take some time off and spend a weekend with a girlfriend who wants to pamper her. 

Any mom will enjoy this film. So many decisions the family had to make on their own and it was evident that their mom was horrible missed. It was interesting watching the family deal with the mom's absence and then how they pulled together to clean the house , cook, etc. before the mom decided to return home.

This family realized they were in fact taking advantage of their mom and all the responsibilities she has for just about everything. It appears at the end of the movie that there is a family agreement for everyone to do their fair share.

I enjoyed this family movie.

DVD Review - Banner 4th of July

About the Movie
In their late teens and early 20's, the Banner siblings Mitchell, Desiree and Danny made it big as a rock band, but everything fell apart when Desiree decided to leave the group at the height of their fame. Now, fifteen years later, their mother has a plan to bring the group back together and heal her fractured family. Will the siblings be able to put aside their differences and reunite or will they remain estranged forever?



My Take on the Movie
This was a great family movie that in typical Hallmark fashion touches the human spirit and is a movie that is both emotional and fun at the same time. The actors did a great job at portraying their characters and the writing in the movie was strong and pulls the viewer in from the beginning and holds you to the end. You question whether the band and the family will come back together and whether the old wounds can be healed. This movie was great and one that I would recommend all families to watch!
