My Take on the Book
This is a game that my girls loved. Each time they but a stick in they cringed and shied away from the balloon thinking it was going to pop on them. However, when it finally did pop, though they screamed, they then giggled and wanted to do it again. The game was easy enough to set up and fun to play. The only downside to the game is that you only get 12 of the fun looking balloons that you see in the pictures above. You can easily use other balloons, but the face on the ones you receive are priceless. All-in-all this was a fun game that my kids really enjoyed and yours will too!

My Take on the Book
My kids and our entire family have a ton of fun playing Hedbanz, and this new game is just as fun. Think charades with a twist and you will have this new game. The game itself was a lot of fun and we had a blast trying it out. You definitely need to be able to read, so young non-reading players will have to have a partner who can whisper in their ear what they are acting out. This game will definitely keep you on your feet, having fun as an entire family for hours (or at least it did for my family)!

Game Review - Kindness Kingdom

About the Game
For generations, mothers have been teaching their children to say "please" and "thank you" but these days it takes a campaign of "random acts of kindness" to give most people a nudge to be more thoughtful. Indeed, one needs only to turn on a TV to any show with “Real Housewives of” in the title to see plenty of reinforcement of rude and offensive behavior. While kids may not be watching these reality shows directly; I think you’d be surprised what trickles down and seeps through the cracks into a child’s psyche.

That’s why it’s so refreshing that today’s parents can welcome Queen Grace into their homes. As ruler of Kindness Kingdom, a make-believe board game full of charm, niceties and good manners, random acts of kindness can become the norm as young ladies travel to an afternoon tea party as thoughtful social skills are bestowed. Kindness Kingdom is a fun new board game that helps kids learn good manners in a neat way. Jessica Marventano, who is certified to teach manners and universal rules of etiquette to young children and teens by the International School of Protocol, came up with the idea for Kindness Kingdom. Jessica teamed up with two other businesswomen to form Marvelously Well-Mannered, the parent company of the Kindness Kingdom board game that’s all about teaching children social and emotional skills to help them earn better grades and be better citizens.

Kindness Kingdom is the first board game from parent company Marvelously Well-Mannered; aimed at teaching young girls useful tips as they wander through the gemmed game path on the way to Queen Grace’s tea party. Proudly made in the USA, the board game is ideal for 2 to 4 players, for ages 5 and up. Not only do children develop social and emotional skills but thoughtfulness toward others. Once a winner is determined, players are requested to cheer on the remaining players until all youngsters reach the finish line, arriving at Queen Grace's marvelous tea party. Subtle illustrations such as a princess seated in a wheelchair reinforce empathy, a much-needed skill for kids to combat teasing or worse, bullying. My Take on the Book
This was a board game unlike any other I have tried. Not only does it entertain, but it educates as well. On top of this, what it is teaching is something that as a parent you want your children to learn. I mean who wouldn't want your child to have good manners - I know I do! The game board in this was so colorful and the gameplay was fun and engaging! I liked the characters and the diversity that they embodied. I also loved the fact that both of my girls could play this without any problems. With both a nine and five year-old I am always happy when I can find a game that my girls will enjoy together, and not leave one or the other out from the fun. The questions in the game were fun and engaging and make players really think about the scenarios that are being shared.

While I have girls, I think that boys could also learn from this game too. I also have to say that as an adult this was a great game to remind me of some of the manners-niceties that I may have forgotten over the years - so kudos to Marvelously Well Mannered for putting together a game that at least in my home has been played a few times straight (and that was only on one night)! I know we will have many manner-filled evenings to come of game-playing fun in our future and so can you and your family!

Game Review - Word A Round

About the Game
Who knew that positioning a word in one continuous ring would make it so tricky to read? The challenge in Word-A-Round is to quickly figure out where the word starts and then read it aloud before your opponents. The game is simple, but you'll find yourself baffled as you race to call out words.



My Take on the Game
My family love games and I am always looking for new additions to our family game night collection. In playing this game, I found this game to be very fun, easy to play and enjoyable for the whole family. Seeing that this game was made for ages 10+, I had to make some adjustments to the original rules but my 8.5 year old caught on and after a little while I introduced the original rules and she actually caught on after a few tries.  This was a lot of fun and if your family is anything like mine, then I would highly encourage you to try this game for your own family!

Game Review - Swish Jr.

About the Game
Swish Jr. is an adaptation of the wildly popular Swish for younger players. A Swish is made when two cards (or more) are stacked on top of each other so that the solid shapes fill in the matching shape and color outlines. In order to make a Swish, the cards may be rotated and flipped, but must lay on top of each other in the same direction so that the blue borders on the cards line up. Swish Jr. is loads of fun and develops visual and spatial thinking skills. Learn to move the cards in your mind and you'll be an expert at making Swishes.

My Take on the Game
My oldest daughter and I had a blast playing this game together. It took us a little time to get the hang of it, but once we did we had a lot of fun with it. While I have not played the original game, I have to say that if it is anything like this, I know that I would enjoy that too. If you enjoy playing games together this is definitely one to play together! What is best though is the carrying case as we were able to take it on the road with us when we traveled.

My Take on the Game
This was a fun game that taught you so much about History! The game itself is for older children and adults, thus I cannot completely give you a sense on the ability of a younger child to grasp the concepts as it was my wife and I who tried out the game itself. J-Mom and I found the game to be a ton of fun, but it is challenging none-the-less. You may even find that the game may stump the best history buff in the family as it did on many occasions when J-Mom and I played. The game itself provided quite a lengthy game play which was nice and in many ways you get to be your own detective as you uncover the clues to the answers you are working to find. All-in-all, this was a great game for the whole family!
