Book Review - Today I am a Princess!

About the Book
Today I am a Princess! is the story of a little girl who lives every day to her full potential, using principles from Naam Yoga to light her way. Developed by yogi and Kabbalah master Dr. Joseph Michael Levry, Naam Yoga is a spiritual science and practical system of self-healing that merges eastern yogic practice with the esoteric teachings of Universal Kabbalah.

According to author Jill Cikins and other Naam followers, the universe and the seven creative planets in the sky naturally follow certain cycles. Each planet behaves differently, exerting a physical influence on earth and on the human mind in a periodic succession equivalent to the days of the week. By studying this pattern, we can determine what to do and what to avoid so we have the best chance of success, health, and happiness on any given day.

In Today I am a Princess!, readers follow a little girl over the course of one week. Each day, she goes on a new adventure and shares a motivational mantra that corresponds to the planet that influences each particular day. For example, Sunday is ruled by the Sun. As the Sun is the center of our universe and responsible for creating life on earth, the little girl discovers Sunday is a great day to start (or create) something new. Children learn every day is a fresh opportunity to be the best version of themselves.

Additional principles featured throughout Today I am a Little Princess! include:

  • Life is a gift, and it is important to be thankful for each and every day.
  • Every day can be a magical adventure with new activities to explore.
  • How you think, what you say, and the way you act are the keys to happiness.

“Striving to be perfect is striving for the impossible, but striving to be the best we can be is a realistic goal,” says Cikins. “We can choose to be a better friend, parent, child, teacher, student or professional every day. When we strive to make each day count, we bring out the best qualities in ourselves and often in others.”

About the Author
Jill Cikins is a certified Naam Yoga instructor and a long time student of Dr. Joseph Michael Levry. She is the founder and owner of www.naampedia.com and lives in New York City.

My Take on the Book
Jill Cikins was inspired to write this story by Universal Kabbalah which teaches that the purpose in life is to be the best we can be. She wants children to use their imaginations and feels magical things can happen each day.

In this story, the Little Princess meets the Sun and planets. Each encounter giver her wisdom for her day. She learns lessons on how to bring love, peace, and light to those she meets.
