About the Product
Health Warrior announced today a nationwide roll-out of Health Warrior Chia Bars onto Whole Foods shelves this month. 100% natural, nutrient-rich, and around 100 calories, they are packed full of the ultimate superfood, Chia.
“This product has a unique place in the nutrition bar category, and we are pleased to
be able to offer our customers a convenient way to get the benefits of chia seeds,”
said Jeremiah McElwee, executive Whole Body coordinator, Whole Foods Market. “The
bars taste great and they are packed with nutrition.”
Health Warrior co-founders, Dan Gluck and Nick Morris, are former NCAA Division 1
athletes and everyday Health Warriors. They discovered Chia seeds after reading about
the Tarahumara Indians in the book Born to Run, where the Tarahumara are reported to
run up to a hundred miles without shoes, sustained by the mighty Chia Seed. Gluck and
Morris, intrigued by this epic story, embarked on some further research and realized that
Chia is the greatest superfood unknown to mankind.
“Chia Seeds are on the march to regain their historic place at the top of the nutrientdense real food chain, and Health Warrior is excited to help lead the way with our Chia
Bars, our community of Warriors, and great partners like Whole Foods Market,” says
Health Warrior co-founder Dan Gluck.
Health Warrior Chia bars provide a convenient, delicious way to “chia on-the-go.” With
under 5 grams of sugar per bar, they are a satiating, good-for-you snack. Easy to toss in
a purse or pack into the kids’ lunchbox, the benefits of chia are at your fingertips.
Chia seeds pack a mighty punch in a small package. ¼ the size of a grain of rice,
pound for pound, Chia has more Omega 3 fatty acids than salmon, more fiber than
oatmeal, more protein than tofu, more calcium than milk, and more magnesium than
broccoli. Health Warrior’s 100 Calorie Chia Bars boast Chia Seeds as their #1 ingredient
with 1000 mg Omega 3’s, 16% DV of Fiber, and only 5g of sugar. The bars are all-natural,
vegan, dairy and soy free. Available in Acai Berry, Coconut, or Chocolate Peanut
Butter, they are all around 100 calories and retail for approximately $1.89 per bar, or
$29.99 for a box.
My Take on the Product
As your kids go out for Halloween, you know that they will be coming back to your home with candy that they will love and you will hate (in many cases). The candy today, made of high fructose corn syrup does not add anything to the idea of a healthy diet, but most parents do allow their children to have this in moderation, as beyond this moderate intake can lurk issues with childhood obesity as well as other health related issues. That is where this product comes in. This product provides sweetness without all of the empty calories. Thus, whether is is for your kids or for yourself, these bars pack a nutritional punch while still tasting great! I tried a few of the varieties and each did taste good and I could easily see having these for myself at work or placing them within the lunch of my kids. All-in-all, these bars are highly nutritious, while retaining taste. I highly encourage all to try them for yourself!
