My Take on the Book
This is a nice chapter book for children to read independently around grades 2-3. I know my youngest daughter who is an avid reader and in second grade could read it easily.

The story includes magic, an enchanted forest, an evil witch, and animals that can talk. Jess and Lily, the human main characters, are friends with the animals who live in Friendship Forest. When they arrive there , Grizelda , the evil witch, has put a spell on the little dog Patch. The girls face many challenges to try to find the ingredients for the potion to save Patch. With perseverance, quick thinking, and assistance from various animals, they save Patch.

The chapters are short. The story is interesting and fun to read. I think your child would enjoy the adventures of the magic animals that can talk and the two girls who befriend them.
