Book Review - He Chose the Nails
Linger on the hill of Calvary.
Rub a finger on the timber and press the nail into your hand.
Taste the tinge of cheap wine and feel the scrape of a thorn on your brow.
Touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God.
Allow the tools of torture to tell their story.
Listen as they tell you what God did to win your heart.
My Take on the Book
"Man does, indeed need a radical change of heart; he needs to begin to hate his sin instead of loving it, and to love God instead of hating him; he needs , in a word, to be reconciled with God. And the place above all others, where this change takes place is at the foot of the cross, when he apprehends something of the hatred of God for sin and his indescribable love for the sinner." by JND Anderson
After reading Max Lucado's book , I felt this quote summed up so much of what he wrote in his book. He illustrated to the reader over and over again God's love for us in that God sent his only son , Jesus, who accepted a horrific death so that our sins were forgiven.
Jesus was an innocent man. He was not a sinner. He preached love and forgiveness. Are we worthy of his sacrifice~~NO~~ but he unselfishly gave his life for us.
As you read this book, you will feel and hear from Max, the love of God and Jesus, as Jesus made his journey on Earth to his death and then his resurrection to heaven to his Father. As Max tell us, it is difficult to really understand this kind of love. That Jesus would die for us.
As a Christian , you will gain insight into this love through Max's book. We as humans may not totally understand this unselfish love of Jesus. Maybe we can at least begin to extend love and forgiveness to those around us because of HIM.
I feel you will learn and grow from Max Lucado's book.
