Book Review - The End of Molasses Classes: Getting Our Kids Unstuck

About the Book
Ron Clark has been called “America’s Educator” and was named Disney’s American Teacher of the Year in 2000. His breakout bestseller, The Essential 55, lit a fire under parents and teachers everywhere to raise their standards and expect the best from students. Using the proceeds from the more than 1 million books sold, Ron established the nonprofit Ron Clark Academy (RCA), a revolutionary school located in Atlanta. Over 10,000 educators from throughout the country and around the world have visited RCA to participate in professional development activities and see how thinking and teaching outside the box can create winning results.

In THE END OF MOLASSES CLASSES, Ron mines the wisdom gained through building a school from the ground up to share 101 of the most effective ways to challenge, motivate, and inspire students. The book is an indispensable guide for parents who want more for their children and for teachers who need strategies for re-energizing classrooms and helping students achieve success.

THE END OF MOLASSES CLASSES shows how to bring education to life, help make every child love to learn, and create a passion for learning both in the home and in the classroom. Throughout the book, RCA students and teachers, parents, and others who have embraced the “RCA way” contribute their own uplifting stories of accepting Ron’s challenge to “Be different. Be bold. Don’t do things the same way they have always been done.”

My Take on the Book
This book had so many great ideas for parents that I was happy to read about and now share with other parents that I know. On top of the value of the book for parents there is much emphasis as well on teachers and how best they can help the students that they are working with too. Thus, this book offers a great balance of support for all audiences and both audiences will benefit from the material geared toward each other as well. This book really is geared toward all who teach children, so if you fall into this realm, this book is for you! The author offers so many ideas for how to change education today. The ideas are practical and down-to-earth and are ones that anyone can implement. I highly recommend this to all!
