I found this idea to be interesting as I know that there have definitely been times when things get heated and all parties are getting too angry for our own good. Lehman does not subscribe tot he idea of “anger management”which I found to be a bit novel. Instead he believes that anger does not need to be managed but instead needs to be managed.
The following are the steps of The Trigger Management Process:
- Diminish the potential- avoid situations that bring on the triggers
- Manage the situation- escape negative situations
- Identify trigger thought
- Constructive self-talk
- Simple plan
- Communicate
- Implement
- Move on
