My Take on the Book
As a father of two girls I can use any help I can get when it comes to being the best dad I can and guiding my girls to be the best that they can be, especially as they walk in their path of faith. I know that I have struggled at times as I tried to give my girls the guidance that I know that they need. This book is practical and provides great examples that were humorous and down-to-earth as well as advice for any father raising girls in today's society!

Book Review - The Croc Ate My Homework: A Pearls Before Swine Collection

My Take on the Book
I had never heard of this comic before I read this, and I am glad to have now found it as it was funny, witty and definitely edgy. I found the comics to be a bit crazy at times and I loved the crocodiles in the comics, they were just hilarious. The artist/author has done a great job at bringing together humor, wit and even a bit of commentary on society all into one place. Kudos! If you have never read this comic before, I highly encourage you to pick up this book today!

Book Review - Charlie Brown: POW!

It doesn't help that his catcher is a musician by nature or that his shortstop is a dog. Not to mention that center-fielder Lucy can't keep her mouth shut long enough to know what's going on in the game! Put them all together and you get a game plan for laughs!

First published in 1950, the classic Peanuts strip now appears in more than 2,200 newspapers in 75 countries in 25 languages. Phrases such as "security blanket" and "good grief," which originated in the Peanuts world, are now part of the global vernacular, and images of Charles Schulz's classic characters---Charlie Brown kicking the football, Lucy leaning over Schroeder's piano---are now universally recognized.



My Take on the Book
This was a great collection of Peanuts comics live and in living color. I really loved reliving some of my favorite comic strips all in one place. I shared this with my eldest daughter as she had never really read any of the actual comics and she loved the collection too and now wants to read even more. This is a great book that any Peanuts lover will enjoy!

Get "Happy" With KIDZ BOP 26

My Take on the CD
This is a great CD. I have been a great fan of the Kidz Bop series for years now and so have my kids. This CD was another amazing addition to the Kidz Bop series. What my kids love about these CD's is that they always have their favorite popular music. As a parent I can say that I like these because the music is safe and with kids singing these was music that I know that I don't have to worry about what they are listening to. If you have never heard a Kidz Bop CD before and you have kids, you do not know what you are missing. I highly encourage you and your kids to try this out, you will not be disappointed!

My Take on the Book
My daughter is a big soccer fan and lately she has been watching a ton of world cup soccer so she was excited to read and learn from this. The book is a spiritual journey, and the reader really sees how David Luiz uses his faith to overcome and be the best soccer player that he could be. The book is motivational, and really gives you insight into how faith can inform practice. I was so impressed with this amazing athlete and you will be too.

Book Review - Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom's Small Prayer in a Big Way

My Take on the Book
This was such a great book, inspiration just wafts off every page. I had heard so much about Zach's life and music in the past, but this heartfelt book brings forth so much more than what I knew in the past. The book is honest and true and definitely a page turner. The book makes you think about your own life and makes you wonder what you would do in a similar situation. While I hope that I never have to live through what the author experienced, through reading this I feel hope and love. In this story you truly read a story about a young man who lived fully even though it was a short lived life. This is a powerful and poignant read that everyone should experience!

My Take on the Course
The Pimsleur approach to learning a language was developed in 1963 by Dr. Paul Pimsleur, a world renowned linguist. It is an innovative approach to learning a language. I decided to listen to the CD which was in the introduction, Lesson 1 and then a few CD's later into the series. There were 16 language CD's in the box.

The learning method is through listening and repetition. The lessons are each 30 minutes long. The narrator suggests you only practice one lesson a day, don't skip any lessons, to repeat the words or phrases you are hearing, and not to write down what you are hearing.

The narrator was excellent. He explained everything well. The Italian was spoken by someone with an Italian accent. When a word or phrase was taught you heard it three times to repeat and then the question was asked: How to you say "excuse me"? Then the correct Italian was given and you could check yourself.

There were no visual words present. You were expected to listen, repeat, and process what you were hearing. The last CD I wanted to check discussed a booklet which was used in the lesson. It was not included in the original box of CD's I received.

Dr. Pimsleur's method is so different from other language programs I have used. I believe learning using this approach is doable but for someone who is truly a visual learner and wants to see the words spoken/learned, this approach could be more challenging.
