This was a great book that really allows you to explore the whole concept of getting recruited to play sports in college. The author has done a great job at providing parents and students a roadmap to see what recruiters are looking for. The book also helps you to lay out a gameplan for how to change up what you are doing to allow your student to stand out in a whole new way!

My daughter just finished her first season playing basketball and she is hooked. I was impressed to find that she was completely engrossed in what was being shared and she was actually even sharing the information back with me. It is wonderful seeing her so engrossed in the material. The book is filled with great pictures as well as very detailed information about the stars too! This is a must have for any basketball fan!

If you have a sports lover in your family this is a great go-to-resource that they will come back to over and over again!

My Take on the Book

One was the evolution of the shoulder pads which I found quite interesting . Of course it details the huge discrepancy in the salaries of years ago and today. You will be amazed at the salaries in the 1940's.

So much information for the reader who loves football. This could be an excellent gift for a football fan in your family.

My Take on the Game

If you are a fan of Mario, then you should try this game out! I have been playing Super Mario Bros. games for many years, but have not played a lot of the games outside of the Super Mario Bros. games much in the past. It was a ton of fun to seeing Mario in a whole new way, and whether you wanted to play this game on the easy level, or if you wanted to make it more challenging you could too. You could also be your own Mii, but I preferred to be Mario!

While I am not an expert golfer to any extent, this game was a ton of fun and you really got to have a ton of fun trying to beat your own score and your own expectations. I seemed to get better and better as I played more and more.

Book Review - Goal

My Take on the Book
Mina Javaherbin has written story about young boys in South Africa who love to play soccer.The boys do not have fancy team uniforms or shoes, they use a bucket for their goal, and they did not have a "real" soccer ball until Ajani received one as an award in school.

Ajani need to be watchful because there are bullies who will steal their ball , The bullies do show up while the boys are playing but they are clever and are able to conceal the real soccer ball.

This is a great story about friendship, perseverance, the resiliency of children to adapt to their situations in life, and how the love of soccer is a bond for the boys.

My Take on the Book
SOCCER STAR is an uplifting story that takes place in Brazil. It is about children who love to play soccer and wish to become stars in this game as Pele became a soccer star. Pele was from a similar poverty situation. However the story has a deeper meaning too. The children live in poverty. They work to earn money for their families and they see soccer as an opportunity to financially assist their families.

You will read about the support and friendship of the boys but also the community in which they live. You will see the support from the adults and the positive attitudes portrayed by everyone.

I see this book as possibly opening up a discussion between you and your child about courage and having high expectations or goals. Ask your child about their hopes and dreams for their future and how they may accomplish what they would like to do.

Book Review - Maisy Plays Soccer

About the Book

My Take on the Book
Lucy's book is perfect for a young child. The text is large and the illustrations are colorful. Maisy and her animal friends like to play soccer. They divide into teams.The author uses soccer terminology in the book which will help introduce your child to the game of soccer. I really liked the fact that the characters showed good sportsmanship throughout their game of soccer.

My Take on the Hand Speed Trainer
I am always looking for ways to better train for the exercise that I do on a daily and weekly basis. The Hand Speed Trainers may look like simple weights, but they are much more than that. These products have been developed by people who really know what they are talking about in regards to performance in any sport. I tend to jog as well as cross train so for me I am using my arms in different ways for each sport that I engage in. The Hand Speed Trainers were lightweight and formed well to my forearms. They did not feel bulky, nor were they uncomfortable in any sense. While I wore them the comfort remained and even with the weights in, I did not find that they fatigued me too much, though I did notice a distinct difference. One of the nice things about this is that they are portable. At times I have to travel for work and I can easily slip these into a side pocket of my bag and continue my training with them with ease. The Hand Speed Trainers come with a specific training program that was easy to follow and easy to maintain. The training is set on an eight week cycle so I am not yet through this period of time. After the eight weeks they have advanced training available online which is great, as it allows you to stay on the top of your game and your training for the foreseeable future.

I have to say that I am impressed with the results thus far and should have more thoughts in the future, but as of now I have no complaints whatsoever!

JALAPENO POPPER DIP

This dip has all of the great flavors of jalapeno poppers without the work. The hardest thing about this dip is not eating it all yourself!

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 0 Minutes

• 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup mayonnaise
• 1 cup shredded Mexican blend or cheddar cheese
• ¼ cup French’s® Classic Yellow® Mustard or French’s® Spicy Brown Mustard
• 4 jalapenos peppers, seeded and diced or 1 can (4 oz.) diced jalapenos, drained
• 2 tbsp. Panko bread crumbs, toasted (optional)

1. Combine all ingredients except bread crumbs in a medium bowl.
2. Sprinkle bread crumbs over dip just before serving.
3. Serve with tortilla chips.

Makes 3 cups

Book Review - Sports Illustrated Baseball's Greatest

My Take on the Book
This was a great book that really captured some of my own boyhood fascination of baseball and it is filled with so many of the greats from my era but earlier and more recent too. I loved not only the facts that were shared but the imagery was wonderful. The photos that were included just jump off the page and make you wish that you were there experiencing the game with the players beig profiled! This is an amazing book for any true baseball fan!

My Take on the Book
This was a great book that had a bit of every sport within it. My daughter loved all of the facts and tidbits that were shared and I have to say that even though this book was geared toward children, I found it to be an enjoyable read as well. My daughter loves sports so after I gave this to her she did not want to stop reading, which is what I love to see no matter what the topic! All-in-all this is a great book for any young reader that loves sports!

My Take on the Book
If you or someone that you know are fans of football, this is the perfect book to share and read together. This book has a little bit of everything within it to intrigue and interest any football fan. Though geared toward kids, any fan can learn form the information and statistics shared in this book and with the full color amazing photos, you will be drawn into the action too. While I love watching football, I can't say that I am an expert at the intricacies of the players as well as other information as it relates to the game itself. After reading this I can say that I know so much more than when I started and you will too!
