International Coffee Makes Mothers Day Special

As you’re prepping to be father and husband of the year for Mother’s Day this year, International Delight Iced Coffee is a great alternative that offers Moms a way to relax and simply sit back and enjoy!

To help other dads, International Delight Iced Coffee offers a few great ideas for how to make that special mom's day one to remember!

  • Enjoy breakfast in bed
    • Give International Delight’s new Iced Coffee – just pour over ice and she’ll have a delicious iced coffee Breakfast tray and gourmet breakfast mixes
  • Relax!
    • A plush robe and bath products will do the trick without going to an expensive spa
  • Flowers
    • Instead of buying flowers, create an activity for the kids to help with the gardening.
    • Kids can play in the garden with a special gardening kit, including tools and seeds. Maybe they can grow Mom a flower!
  • Dessert
    • Keep the kitchen mess-free and treat yourself and the family to a cold ice cream treat.
These are only a few ideas, but more-over the most important thing is to simply sit back and let mom have a day of rest, pamper her with breakfast in bed or in other ways. Make the day memorable, one that she will never forget! Sometimes the best gift is simply the gift of time, and being able to stay home, avoiding the hustle and bustle of the restaurants or coffee shops can be just the thing that can make the day enjoyable!

Book Review - Bonding Over Beauty

About the Book
Unsightly moustaches. Zits the size of Skittles. Sudden underarm odor. Some horrible-sounding thing called “menstruation” looming on the horizon like Godzilla making a buffet of the eastern seaboard en route to New York City. Is it any wonder that a girl’s ‘tween years can be both a wondrous (boys!) and difficult time in her life? Mothers and caretakers have a choice to make: Is this an opportunity to foster her self-esteem and strengthen the bond between them—or just time passing until her dreaded teen years?

Erika Katz, author of the soon to be released book, Bonding over Beauty, a Mother-Daughter Guide to Self-Esteem, Confidence and Trust, is a mother and beauty expert who learned firsthand as a child actress and model just how bewildering this time in a young girl’s life can be. Erika wrote this beauty guide for mothers looking to connect with their daughters and build trust through the age old beauty / grooming rituals that every girl goes through on the road to womanhood.

Bonding Over Beauty will equip moms with the information they need to be truly caring—rather than controlling—with their girls… It will enable moms to educate and empower their daughters to make positive choices. While on the surface this looks like a book about beauty, it is actually about moms being able to teach their daughters the most important lesson of all: beauty truly comes from within.”

— From the foreword by Dr. Jane Greer, psychotherapist and author of What About Me? Stop Selfishness From Ruining Your Relationships

Containing numerous bonding activities that can ease the difficulties faced by young girls on the road to physical and emotional maturity, the book also lets mothers know the crucial topics they need to address regarding the confusing effects of puberty. From step-by-step recipes for creating inexpensive, at-home body scrubs and acne remedies to advice on how to deal with unwanted body hair and even more unwanted periods, to recommendations for the best and most age appropriate beauty products for girls to use, Bonding over Beauty is an essential read for anyone raising a ‘tween girl.

My Take on the Book
This book is all about beauty and is for the person in a tween's life that is helping them with building their self-esteem and self-concept. Thus, though this book is touted for daughters, others can also benefit from the book itself, though I can see the importance of mothers and daughters bonding over this type of material.

What I liked about the book was that it focused on beauty and health and made the reader consider the whole person. Thus, the book is not just giving beauty tips, but it also spends a lot of time on health and exercise which is very important in a young girls' life. The book was easy to read and with short chapters that hit home, anyone reading can get through a chapter in a short period of time and then have a good conversation together about what they just read.

There are some good resources in this book as well for parents. I know that I am not looking forward to the whole PMS Discussion and will probably let J-Mom take the lead on this. Yet, in this book there is a whole section on this whole issue and the way that it was presented here was so down to Earth that I was set at ease (at least somewhat)..
Overall, this is a great book that will help in the building of a strong relationship between child and parent. If you have a daughter going into her tween years, do not miss this book!

Book Review: THE NAKED MOM by Brooke Burke

MOTHERHOOD REVEALED BY CELEBRITY MOM AND CO-HOST OF DANCING WITH THE STARS

A Modern Mom’s Fearless Revelations, Savvy Advice and Soulful Reflections
by Brooke Burke
**On-Sale: February 1, 2011**

Motherhood revealed-by a high-profile celebrity mom, dynamic CEO, and Dancing with the Stars co-host and winner.

Brooke Burke knows all too well that when you're raising four children, running a household, tending a relationship, building a multimillion- dollar business and pursuing a television career, there's no room for pretense or posturing. Rejecting the idea that there's some simple step-by-step path to the Perfect Body, the Perfect Relationship, or the Perfect Career, she reveals the truths about motherhood with the sincerity that today's smart, sexy and soulful moms need. Brooke lets readers know what really goes on behind the scenes of a surprisingly ordinary life as a celebrity mom, and how she manages to make it all work (on the good days). Always acknowledging the chaos that is present in any woman's life, Burke offers readers a more calculated approach to life and motherhood: dance through it. It's all about hearing the music, finding your footing, and moving gracefully.

From tips about caring for your body, to her own stories about the missteps she's made as a mother, to advice about how to handle the tough emotional challenges moms face, Brooke paints an honest picture of motherhood that all women can relate to, insisting that it's not about being right or wrong, it's about being your authentic, naked self.

My Take on the Book
While I am a Dad, I will say that this book shares a very transparent look into motherhood in the limelight. I have done many interviews with fathers that are doing this as well, and I have to commend Ms. Burke for the openness and honesty that she shares in this book. What I liked about this book was that it gives some great advice and resources for all moms (and it might even give some dads some things to think about as well).

If you are looking for a book that shares openly one well known mothers' journey, this book is one that I would highly recommend!

Mother's Day Made Easy: Seven Great Gifts the Mother in Your Life Will Love

Flowers and cards are nice, but if you really want to "wow" this Mother's Day, it's time to raise the bar. Image consultant Marla Tomazin takes the mystery out of your Mother's Day shopping with seven great gift ideas any mom is sure to love.

Each year, amidst the weather warming and the May flowers blooming, we take time to reflect on the women who have helped to shape our lives since the days we were born. With every diaper change, wiped-away tear, and goodnight kiss, our mothers dedicated their time and attention to taking care of us—so when Mother's Day rolls around this year, will you know what to give the moms in your life to say "thank you"? Worry no more—image consultant Marla Tomazin is here to help.

"If you think your wife or mother wants a new vacuum, blender, or washing machine for Mother's Day, think again," says Tomazin, who has been an image consultant for 20 years after earlier experience in the fashion industry. "To truly show your appreciation this Mother's Day, think about a gift that would really put a smile on her face. It is important to do a little research, pay attention, and watch for clues throughout the year. Every woman is an individual, and special attention should be paid when buying the right gift for Mom."
If you're looking to give a great gift this Mother's Day and you're still not sure where to start, Tomazin says the following seven gifts will be sure to make any mom feel the love this May:

Spoil her with a spa day. All moms deserve to be pampered, and a day at the spa is the perfect way for the deserving mother in your life to relax and rejuvenate. Tomazin says that a day at the spa can be tailored to include what she might enjoy the most. This can include a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, haircut, and blowout. Moms spend their time taking good care of their families, so it's high time they get the chance to be taken care of too!
Good things really do come in small packages. No matter what the occasion, you can't go wrong with the gift of jewelry—and Mother's Day is no exception. Tomazin says that when chosen properly, jewelry is a lasting gift that will make the women on your list happy all year long. Unsure about a particular mom's jewelry style? Tomazin suggests going shopping with the mom in question and letting her try on a variety of pieces at different price points. Then take note of all the jewelry she loved and buy those pieces as gifts throughout the year.
Trade breakfast in bed for a bed and breakfast. Mother's Day is about showing the mother in your life that you love her, and there's no better way for husbands in particular to show the love than a weekend getaway. Plan a weekend for the two of you at a bed and breakfast, seaside resort, or destination that you know your wife will love. Tomazin says that this will give you a chance to renew the romance in your relationship and give your wife a chance to rest, relax, and enjoy herself. It's an unexpected gift for Mother's Day, and one she'll be certain to never forget.
Aim for activity. For moms who love a good workout, going to the gym can be a great way to get out of the house and have some time to themselves. And an hour of yoga and some time in the sauna can be just the rejuvenation a mom needs! If the lady on your list would love a session with a personal trainer, a gym membership, or some new yoga gear, Tomazin says that a gift certificate for any of those may be the perfect solution. This can give moms a chance to try the classes or training that they have been thinking about but have not had time to do.
Let her shop till she drops. It's no secret that most women love to shop, but for most moms a shopping spree means a trip to the grocery store or a day spent trying on new soccer cleats—not those cute peep toe pumps she's been eyeing for months. This Mother's Day Tomazin suggests giving the mom on your list the chance to do a little shopping for herself. If you know your wife or mother loves a special boutique or department store, consider getting her a gift certificate. And if you know that she has wanted a certain item at one of those stores, go ahead and purchase it for her.
Paint the town red. Sometimes, the best gifts don't come in a box or envelope. If you are looking for a special way to celebrate your wife this Mother's Day, Tomazin suggests planning for a special evening out. Depending on her personal taste, it could be a fancy dinner, going out for dancing, or even a casual dinner and movie, like old times. Arrange for a babysitter and make it a nice surprise for your wife. She will appreciate the opportunity to step out of her mom role for one night, and it will be a great way for the two of you to celebrate together.
Give her the gift of an image consultant. So often mothers put themselves on the back burner and spend their time taking care of others. A personal stylist or image consultant can help the mom in your life take the time to do the things for herself that she may not otherwise do. Tomazin says that image consultants and personal stylists can help a woman streamline her closet so that she can save time getting dressed, or they can help her determine the best colors and styles for her so that shopping will become much easier and less time-consuming. This will make her life less stressful and allow her to be more present with her family and friends—and she'll be thrilled by the way she looks and feels, too!
"The most important part of any gift is the sentiment behind it," Tomazin concludes. "The best Mother's Day gift is one that says you've paid attention, that you appreciate all your mother or wife does, and that you want to give back to her just a portion of the love and attention she has given to you and your family. Think about who she is and what she loves to do. If your gift takes those things into consideration, you'll be sure to give her something she'll love."

Ming Wang Provides a Stylish Gift for Moms

Ok dads, are you looking for a stylish gift for your wife? If you are you should definitely look into

The collection itself offers a versatile collection of chic, effortless knitwear for the modern woman. Machine washable, wrinkle-free, and color-guarded, the line is ideal for the active woman dedicated to style and practicality. Its separate pieces pair vibrant colors and bold patterns with fitting timeless neutrals, making it perfect for wardrobe building and transitioning from day to night.

I gave this dress to J-Mom and she was very excited. Her first impression of the dress was that it was a classic style that wouldn't go out of stle and one that could be dressed up or down. She was amazed that it arrived folded up in a box and there was not a wrinkle on it.

When she tried it on she looked reat (of course) but she said that it was very comfortable and especially in warmer eather she coud see herself wearing it and not being uncomfortale at all.

I was very impressed by the qality and style of the dress and best of all, J-Mom loved it. Guys, if you are looking for a dress that will let your special someone look and feel great, these dresses will definitely do the trick.

You can find dresses like these on http://www.mingwangknits.com/

Book Review - A Girl's Guide for You and Your Mom about Health, Sex or Whatever

About the Book
Janine Sherman, Start Talking: A Girl’s Guide for You and Your Mom about Health, Sex or Whatever **March is Talk to Your Teen about Sex Month**
With the teen pregnancy rate at 37.3% and the increase in sexuality in the media THIS MESSAGE IS VITAL—for teens, their parents and our community at large. Girls are often reluctant to approach their mothers for advice on boys, relationships and sex for fear of punishment, lecture or simply because they are embarrassed about the issue itself. Janine Sherman is a refreshingly lively, candid and down-to-earth OB/GYN nurse practitioner, with honest answers to some of life’s toughest topics.  Specializing in caring for the physical health of teens and their moms, Sherman provides teen-friendly ideas to help mothers and daughters engage in open, honest conversation.

A Q and A guide for mother-daughter conversations about female health and sexuality, this book targets both daughters and mothers. Start Talking contains more than 113 questions girls ask including questions about periods, sex, relationships, guys, eating, exercise, body development, along with similar questions verbalized by mothers. Each chapter contains basic information accompanied by real-life vignettes, questions and answers for moms, questions and answers for daughters, ""Table Talk"" suggestions for moms on how to engage each other around these topics. This book differs from books targeting just girls understanding their own bodies, and from books targeting just mothers on what they should know: it is deliberately meant to spark conversations.

Now, you both get super straight answers about
• How your body works—top to bottom, we cover it all
• Feeling good, feeling fat, and everything in between
• Birth control, STDs, and what makes you a virgin
• Sex—how to know when you’re ready, and when you’re not
• Why just because you ask, doesn’t mean you want to do it
• Saying no and loving it—surprising reasons to wait
• Fun ways to get closer—from yoga mats to a day at the mall
• Loving your body and living your life to the fullest
• Getting what you want from life—right now and forever!

My Take on the Book
As a father of girls, I dread the day that I have to talk about some of these issues with my own girls and in talking with J-Mom this book is a great guide for moms and daughters in talking about important and many times difficult topics.

The book is very easy to read and I have to say that the way that the book itself was set up (with conversation starters) was great!. Especially in the topics that relate to sensitive topics of health and sex, I found the ideas presented to be straight forward and easy to understand. They also opened a door to dialogue that bring moms and daughters to being on the same level and encourages them to keep talking no matter what.

I definitely plan to hold onto this book for years to come as I know that it will be one that will aid us tremendously as Diva-J and Diva-PJ get older and want to know and understand more.

If this book sounds like one you would like in your own library you can find it on Amazon!
