DVD Review - ReBoot Seasons 1& 2

About the DVD
Since early 1990s, DOT MATRIX, ENZO, GUARDIAN BOB and thousands of BINOMES from REBOOT have thrust into battles with corrupt forces of MEGABYTES and HEXADECIMAL to stop their relentless pursuit of chaos and destruction of the high-tech city MAINFRAME. REBOOT made history for being the first fully computer-generated animated TV series when it debuted on U.S and Canadian television in 1994. The series ran four successful seasons and was seen in over 70 countries around the world, boasting a large fan base of loyal followers in kids and adult gamers alike. The show’s unique setting inside a computer allows the characters and storylines to mine the references to computers and video games for all they’re worth, giving the show its humorous edge. The innovative animation, insider humor and high octane action combine to give viewers a lot of binary bang for their buck.

Now you can relive the fast-paced animated action adventures when Shout! Factory, in association with Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc., will debut the long-awaited REBOOT: SEASONS 1 & 2 DVD set on March 1, 2011. This collectible 4-DVD set features all 23 episodes from the first and second seasons, along with special commentary by producer Christopher Brough, designer and storyboard artist Blair Peters and animator Zeke Norton. REBOOT: SEASONS 1 & 2 DVD set is priced at $29.93 SRP.

My Take on the DVD
I was interested in this DVD as I had never heard of the show before, but the premise sounds like a lot of fun and the plot seemed like it would be right up the alley for shows that I would like if given the chance. Though this series first appreared back in 1994, the animation in this was great for that period of time.

What I liked most was the unique characters and oddball humor that was in the show itself. I liked the idea of a whole civilization living inside my computer (per se) and as I think about this I find it funny that to see characters such as the feisty businesswoman Dot Matrix, her brother Enzo, and even the elderly, sorta-robotesque system administrator Phong.

The idea of the fact that at least once in each episode the characters had to interact with the User, or get turned into Nulls as well as fighting against viruses (they must be in a PC based computer) who also are threatening theur home and you get a plot that is action packed, as well as fun for the viewer to watch and become a part of!

Some of the crisis that was shown in these episodes seem somewhat real to life with viruses that could easily be seen in today's society. It was fun to see how the producers of this DVD could see the parallels to our everyday life with technology!

This was an enjoyable series and one that I know many other techy families will love as well!
