Book Review - Baseball: How to Play the Game by Pete Williams

About the Book
As the definitive publication for playing and coaching baseball at any level, this comprehensive guide is the only book that parents, coaches and players will ever need to learn the game of baseball. Featuring full color action photos of MLB stars and youth players, BASEBALL: HOW TO PLAY THE GAME includes easy-to-follow instructions, as well as illustrations of many of the skills needed to master the sport.

Detailed chapters cover the ins and outs of batting, pitching, baserunning and catching, among other topics.
With keen insight from Major League personnel, each chapter targets a specific offensive or defensive element while providing both age-appropriate and position-specific descriptions of various game situations. Coaching tips, equipment selection guidelines, rules overviews and, perhaps most importantly, an emphasis on good sportsmanship complement the fundamentals-based text.

Players of all levels will benefit from the 40 skill-specific drills. In addition, MLB Publishing’s vault has been
opened to supply readers with tips from 25 top players, including Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira, John Lackey, Tim Hudson, Josh Johnson, Chone Figgins, Pudge Rodriguez and Torii Hunter — as well as past greats Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken Jr. and Bernie Williams. The ultimate baseball resource for aspiring ballplayers and coaches, this how-to guide offers all of the information necessary for them to develop and succeed.

My Take on the BookAs a fan of baseball, I grew up both play and appreciating baseball. I even played baseball on a team for a short time in growing up. This book is the ultimate guide for anyone that wishes to play or coach a baseball team With chapters written by experts (people who have played the game themselves), the book is amazingly easy to read and understand and you can tell that anyone that reads this will gain a better understanding of the skills that you will need to succeed in the game itself.

Full of amazing full color pictures that show professional players in action you are drawn into the book further and you are shown step-by-step (in some cases) how to perform specific exercises or stances, or you can see professional players holding the bat in  certain way or how to hold a ball or other such activities.

All-in-all, this is an amazing resource that I would recommend to anyone who is trying to play or coach baseball. You will not be disappointed!
