About the Book
Officer Judy Hopps is on an exciting case in Zootopia. Her day started out like any other, until she stumbled across a crying elephant who was missing his Jumbo-pop. Hand-in-hand, the two retraced his steps and followed clues across the city. Will this whirlwind tour lead them to the Jumbo-pop before it melts?

My Take on the Book
My kids are excited about the new Zootopia movie. I received this book in anticipation of the movie and my seven year-old daughter was very excited about reviewing it herself. Below is her review.

I liked this book because they make the mystery funny, such as when he finds out that he ate the Jumbo-pop. I also liked the pictures as they were colorful and really made me understand the movie characters. Also, I liked that the sky meets the ground in the book and the background throughout the book is pretty. I really liked this book.

Beetle Boy

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Darkus Cuttle's dad mysteriously goes missing from his job as Director of Science at the Natural History Museum. Vanished without a trace! From a locked room! So Darkus moves in with his eccentric Uncle Max and next door to Humphrey and Pickering, two lunatic cousins with an enormous beetle infestation. Darkus soon discovers that the beetles are anything but ordinary. They're an amazing, intelligent, super species and they're in danger of being exterminated. It's up to Darkus and his friends to save the beetles. But they're up against an even more terrifying villain -- mad scientist of fashion, haute couture villainess Lucretia Cutter. Lucretia has an alarming interest in insects and dastardly plans for the bugs. She won't let anyone or anything stop her, including Darkus's dad, who she has locked up in her dungeons! The beetles and kids join forces to rescue Mr. Cuttle and thwart Lucretia.

My Take on the Book
This was a wonderful book that brought all readers in front of bugs and adventure. You get some fun characters that you will remember for a long time to come. The book was a fast read and was one that my girls really loved too.

While I have never been a huge bug fan, the beetle in this book was somewhat cute and definitely had a personality. The book was engaging and fun and the girls had a ton of fun reading this with me.

This is a book that you will enjoy form beginning to end!

Book Review - Their Fractured Light

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now-infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness LaRoux Industries' corruption. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were the only survivors of the Icarus shipwreck, forced to live a double life after their rescue.

Now, at the center of the galaxy on Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players in the fight against LRI.

Gideon Marchant is an underworld hacker known as the Knave of Hearts, ready to climb and abseil his way past the best security measures on the planet to expose LRI's atrocities. Sofia Quinn, charming con artist, can work her way into any stronghold without missing a beat. When a foiled attempt to infiltrate LRI Headquarters forces them into a fragile alliance, it's impossible to know who's playing whom--and whether they can ever learn to trust each other.

With their lives, loves, and loyalties at stake, only by joining forces with the Icarus survivors and Avon's protectors do they stand a chance of taking down the most powerful corporation in the galaxy---before LRI's secrets destroy them all.

The New York Times best-selling Starbound trilogy comes to a close with this dazzling final installment about the power of courage and hope in humanity's darkest hour.

My Take on the Book

While I did not read the first two books in this trilogy, I still thought that the book was a good one and one that I could comprehend and pick up quickly. While the book does pick up somewhat in the story, I still felt that the book was separate enough that someone that had not read the first two would still be able to read this as a stand-alone book.

This book follows a character known as Gideon who is a hacker and is known as the Knave of hearts and a heroine named Sofia. These two characters that, while at first, seem to be very different, as you continue to read you will find more and more common ground between them, especially between a common enemy.

Both main characters were a ton of fun and have traits that drew me in and complemented each other well. The book too was fun and had a plot that moved quickly.

If you read this book before the others, I know that now that I have read this myself, that I am ready to go back and read the other books for myself.

Book Review - Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Smuggler's Run

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Han Solo and Chewbacca the Wookiee team-up for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set between Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the story follows everyone's favorite pair of smugglers as they fly the Millennium Falcon on a top-secret mission for the Rebellion. Hidden in the story are also hints and clues about the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, making this a must-read for fans old and new!

My Take on the Book
What was great about this book is that the adventure is a Han Solo adventure, so you get to see a post New Hope world through his eyes. You also get to have a great adventure that surrounds some great characters (not just Han Solo and Chewbacca).

In this book you get to see the Han Solo from A New Hope that so many people loved. The author brings out the best in Han Solo in my opinion.

The book ends very quickly. Though the book may seem long when you see it from the outside, you will get through this book in no time because of the action and because of how well this was written.

Book Review - Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Moving Target

Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens Moving Target

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Princess Leia returns for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, the story follows the warrior princess as she leads a ragtag group of rebels on a dangerous mission against the evil Galactic Empire. Hidden in the story are also hints and clues about the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, making this a must-read for fans old and new!

My Take on the Book
This book is the perfect book that spans the gap between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I loved that this was a story from Leia's point of view.

In the story you see and feel Leia's loss of Han, as she plans for and works on ways to rescue him within the book. You see Leia as a very brave princess and that knows how to lead, but also how to plan.

The book was a very fast read, and I found myself staying up late for the nights in which I was reading the book to get to the next chapter, which is the sign of not only a good story, but a good overall book!

While this is written for the young adult this book will be loved by any Star Wars fans!

Book Review - Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens The Weapon of a Jedi

Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens The Weapon of a Jedi

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Luke Skywalker returns for an all-new adventure in this thrilling upper middle grade novel. Set between Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, the story finds Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2-D2 stranded on a mysterious planet, and explores a dangerous duel between Luke and a strange new villain. Hidden in the story are also clues and hints about the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, making this a must-read for fans old and new!

My Take on the Book
This was an interesting book that really closes the gaps between Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The book introduces you to great new characters, but also allows you to see Luke in a vulnerable place in his progress in becoming a Jedi.

The author does a great job at placing Skywalker in some very adventurous situations throughout the book.

The story itself was exciting and while the adventure may seem dull at first, it turns into one that you will not forget, with  Y-Wings, characters you know and love and new friends and enemies too.

The book was a fast read and any Star Wars fan will love how this story ties the new main cannon lines together!

Book Review - Maxi the Little Taxi

Maxi the Little Taxi

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
It's Maxi the Taxi's first day of work.

What fun it is to zip and zoom all around the town!

SPLASH go the mud puddles!

PLIPPITY-PLOP drips the ice cream and mustard from sticky little fingers!

Soon Maxi becomes so grimy and gooey that no one wants to ride with him.

Who will help this dirty little taxi discover what he needs most? It's a smart little boy who takes Maxi for a noisy, tickly bath in the car wash!

My Take on the Book
I have a 7 year old daughter that loves to read. Usually we read things together, but lately she has been wanting to review books on her own. Below are her thoughts on this book!

I like the pictures in this book. I noticed that the taxi has eyes and I liked how they made the people look realistic. It's a good book, with fun characters and I would love to see Maxi in a book again in the future!
