My Take on the Book
As a fan of super heroes, it is great to have another graphic novel with a female cast of characters that are the complete heroes of the story. You will have a great mix of humor, adventure, mystery and more as the heroes work to solve the crime (Catwoman stealing an ancient toilet from a museum). The book is short so you will not get a huge deep dive into their powers, but it is a solid story for all readers that love superheroes and teamwork in action!

Book Review - Superhero Ethics

About the Book
Whether in comic books or on movie screens, superhero stories are where many people first encounter questions about how they should conduct their lives.

Although these outlandish figures—in their capes, masks, and tights, with their unbelievable origins and preternatural powers—are often dismissed as juvenile amusements, they really are profound metaphors for different approaches to shaping one’s character and facing the challenges of life.

My Take on the Book
As someone that loves superheroes this book sounded interesting. I mean, as a comic book lover, I have always wondered about who would win when it came to characters battling each other. This book sets characters up against each other and the author asks questions about these heroes and about what the characters represent. I loved that you will explore the ethics of the characters and through looking at the characters in these ways you will learn more than you thought you knew! This book is truly a book that will draw you into the book and will make you start looking at your favorite characters in different ways.

My Take on the Book
As someone that is a BIG super hero fan as well as someone that grew up on Marvel comics this book was amazing. I actually would have wished that this had been available when I was growing up. The book really allows you to explore the powers that you would want to have, as well as learn more about some of your favorite super heroes too. I love how this book walks you through every step of creating your own super identity as it really allows you to let your creativity soar!

My Take on the Book
This is a most complete alphabetical listing of super heroes I have seen.It contains an enormous amount of information about each super hero. There is a question and answer section on each super hero page that supplies additional specific facts. You will note who the super hero's friends are, who they prefer to work with on assignments, and special small facts about each super hero.

For example: Did you know Black Widow's "bites" can shoot electrical charges, lasers, or projectiles? Or did you know Guardians of the Galaxy's main base used to be a living skull of a celestial being?

This book has hours of reading for the child who wants more information about the super heroes. The illustrations are beautifully detailed and colorful. There are many extra visuals to accompany the information too. I believe you will find this to be an excellent resource for someone who enjoys learning about super heroes.

eKids Captain America Technology Offers Great Sound Quality!

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier now being in theatres, eKids, a sister company of iHome Audio has introduced some amazing new technology for kids that connect kids, not only to the movie, but also to some great technology.

The eKids Captain America Over-the-Ear Headphones feature an adjustable headband and soft ear cushions, while the Noise Isolating Earbuds are compact enough to throw in the carry-on for summer travel! The Rechargeable Character Speakers are also very travel-friendly and lightweight, hooking up to any MP3 player or laptop to play movies and music.

The items vary from $14.99-$24.99 and are available at eKids.com.

My Take on the Products
I have been a fan of Captain America for years, and now with the movies out, a new generation is also getting connected to this great American icon. On top of the movies though eKids has come up with a HUGE line of products that allow kids to connect with their favorite characters (from super heroes to Mickey Mouse and more!). I was lucky enough to be able to try out a few of the items above to share my thoughts on with you today.

I tried the headphones that you see at the top of the screen and the wireless speaker above. First off, I have to comment on the artwork and design of the products. both were well done artistically. I loved the color scheme and its connection to Captain America. That being said there were a few details that I loved on these products. For example, the shield that is on the side of the wireless speaker was a great touch and something that I would not have expected to be there. On the headphones, I loved how the color scheme worked throughout the product itself as it added to the overall consistency with the theme.

Best of all for both of these items was the sound quality that you received. The headphones truly canceled out outside noise and in trying them on my oldest daughter, they fit her perfectly. My youngest has a smaller head and the speakers did not fit her as well (but not many headphones do). The wireless speaker was easy to set up and the rechargeable battery held quite a bit of life (more than I had expected) before needing to be recharged. As in most rechargeable technology, they encourage that you run the battery all of the way down before recharging, so keep that in mind as you use this.

All-in-all the design and sound quality were definitely things that sold me. On top of this though, in reviewing the website, I have to say that I was VERY Impressed with the selection that eKids offers, as I was not expecting the breadth and depth of products and characters that were represented. If you have yet to see these, I encourage you to check out the eKids website today!

My Take on the Book
Another great X-Men story that has a great mix of adventure and action that will keep the reader engaged and reading from beginning to end. As a level 3 reader book, I found that my youngest did have to struggle a bit but with my help she was able to get through it, and she enjoyed it too. I have been a fan of the X-Men since I was a kid, so being able to share this with my daughters is definitely something that I enjoy and have been trying to do, so this was a perfect story to allow me to do just that.

My Take on the Book
I am a HUGE Marvel Comics fan and this easy reader introduces you to the God of Thunder. While the story was short, it does a great job at giving you an introduction to Thor in general in an easy to read form. The artwork was also great and allowed you to experience Thor in a brand new way that any child will love! This is a great book for any fan or Thor or Marvel Comics!

DVD Review - Freedom Force

About the Movie

Accompanied by their trusted dog, a group of kids – unlikely heroes, but with special talents – are sent back in time to restore the beloved stories and secure their rightful place in history.

Their adventure takes them to the darkest jungles and cities deep under the sea … even to outer space! But the mission goes horribly awry when a mad scientist tries to stop them. Faced by colossal challenges along the way – including cannibals, runaway hot air balloons and a giant octopus – they struggle to set the record straight and save the world from chaos … While not mixing up anything as they go!


My Take on the Movie
I am always up for a new cartoon, especially when it comes to saving the world. I had not heard of this movie in the past, but knew the main actors who voiced the characters and they did a great job portraying the characters themselves. The movie itself was fun and adventure filled. The animation was not as pristine as you might see in some movies but the story was still strong and we enjoyed the time we spent watching it. Being fans of books, you tend to feel that you have been transported into some of the most beloved novels of all time, and this to me is one of the strongest pieces of the movie itself. All-in-all, the movie was good, and fun for the whole family.

Blu-ray Review - The Wolverine

About the Movie
Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine and faces his ultimate nemesis in an action packed life-or-death battle that takes him to modern day Japan. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his limits, Logan confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality; an epic fight that will leave him forever changed.



My Take on the Movie
This was a great movie, with a great story. While it was different than the other superhero movies that are out there, but Wolverine is a different character than other superheroes and thus a different type of movie. What I loved most were the action scenes as this was filled with them. The story also was well written and even filled with a love story too, which I did not expect. Whether you are already a Marvel fan or not, this will be a movie that will keep you coming back for more time and time again. Hugh Jackman did an amazing job again playing Wolverine and for me I hope that another Wolverine movie will grace the screen yet again in the near future.

DVD Review - The Super Hero Squad Show: The Infinity Gauntlet Vol. 4

My Take on the DVD
This was another great addition to the Super Hero Squad Series. I have to say that I was impressed with all of the episodes! As a person who has been watching this series from the beginning I have to say that each episode seems to get better and better as time goes on. What I love most is that through this series I am able to share my love of marvel comics and characters with my daughters, and they seem to love them as well!

DVD Review - Iron Man: Armored Adventures Season 2, Volume 1

About the DVD 
“Iron Man: Armored Adventures” follows Tony Stark, 16-year-old genius and heir to the billion-dollar corporation Stark International, as he battles the enemies of world peace with his revolutionary armor technology. Growing up, Tony had always lived a life of luxury, but everything went horribly wrong when a tragic plane accident robbed him of his father and nearly cost him his own life. My Take on the DVD
I love this series almost as much as I love the character of Iron Man. I have been a fan of this series since it began and a fan of the comic even further back than this! The series brings some of the best of the comics together in one place. The series is high paced, action packed, and will keep you on the edge of your seat and definitely engaged throughout all of the episodes, or at least it did for me! For the true fan, you will find some differences in this series than just in the comics, but for me that was ok, as it still brought to the screen a great character with great plot, action and artistry!
