Take a look at the Sweet Future when Strawberry Shortcake: Growing Up Dreams is Release on Blu-ray and DVD August 30th!

Strawberry Shortcake’s Style Tips

Strawberry and friends are eager to grow up so they begin to imagine what they will be like for them in the future. Imaginations soar as they see what their future is like as busy career girls!              Whether Strawberry is at the Berryfest or ‘Putting on the Glitz’ or ‘Growing Up Dreams,’ she is always ready for quite the adventure!

In this fun fashion guide, Strawberry herself will list out some of her favorite ways to spice up your back-to-school look. She’ll highlight the coolest ways to play with glitter, nail-polish and barrettes, as well as dish out tips on how to make your old clothes fresh and fashionable for the fall that will be sure to spice up your school year. Living your dreams is easy when you look and feel your best, and you’ll inspire your friends to add sparkle and shine into their looks!

 Lemon Meringue

Lemon Meringue happens to have her own beauty shop so she’s great at putting together outfits. Mix a dark yellow mixed with a lighter yellow to get that meringue contrast. Always top it off with a cute flower barrette or bright yellow hat.

Blueberry Muffin

Blueberry Muffin and Strawberry Shortcake are berry good friends so it’s only natural the two share similar styles. They have been friends for so long and nothing changes as they grow up, not even those cute hats they where. Blueberry Muffin wears a blue one with purple polka dots. To get the look put on some comfy but stylish blue jeans and a white top with polka dots. Wear your hair loose and don’t forget to top it with a blue hat!

Crepe Suzette

Crepe Suzette is growing up to be a talented fashion designer and her look says it all. To get her posh look put on a pair of cute and colorful jeans, cuff the hem, and wear your favorite top tucked in. Complete the look with some cute flats and red hat. Match the outfit with a fabulous purse and you’re ready to conquer the world!

Orange Blossom
This earthy girl is all about protection our environment and helping living things grow, and loves orange trees. To get Orange Blossom’s style choose a bright color – Orange Blossom’s favourite color is obviously orange so make sure to look

Tea Blossom

Tea Blossom loves of flowers as well as putting on fun tea parties for friends. Style your outfit with blue jeans and cuff up the hem to your ankles. Comb half your hair up in pig tails (use green hair ties if available), put on a pair of hot pink flip- flops and you’re readyt to put on your fabulous tea party!

FRIENDS

Fun idea –When kids get together with a their group of friends, they can coordinate with each other to look like their favourite Strawberry Shortcake character and watch “Growing up Dreams” to match their favourite Strawberry Shortcake friend. It will be a perfect picture op for moms!

Coco Penny Lets a Girl be a Girl

About the Company (What they Say)
We love pretty things. Love them.  We started designing pretty hair flowers for ourselves, our daughters, our friends, and our friends’ daughters…and came to realize that people liked our styles and that there wasn’t anything quite like them out there at a reasonable price.  Voila! Coco Penny was born.

We live in Alexandria, Virginia, have been best friends for years and when we are not creating flowers or managing Coco Penny, we are kept busy raising our families.  We also like eating chocolate, reading good books and occasionally, a movie and dinner with the hubbies out on the town.

My Take on the Products I was given the opportunity to try out one of the hair clips that they offer on Cocopenny.com. Seeing that I live in a divadom this company is right up my alley as my girls are just they girls and they love dressing up and living in the glam and glitter that comes with being a girl. This company celebrates that and allows parents to find fun things for their girls that are truly girly and divaish (in some sense). My eldest (Diva-J) loved her hair tie as you can see here. Once we put it in her hair she did not want to take it out (go figure, right?)

All-in-all this company has a little bit of everything for kids and adults (ladies only guys) . So if you have some ladies in your life, check out this shop... you will not be disappointed!

How to have Fantastic Style in 2011!

I wanted to pass along some glitz-centric tips and trends from Pam Kelly, National Director of Technical Salon Services for Fantastic Sams Hair Salons, one of the world’s largest full-service hair care franchises providing the same quality services as independent salons but at a fraction of the cost.

Holiday Hair
This year holiday hair styles point to chignons, twists and braids, but instead of a neat look, the deconstructed look is in.   Pam Kelly tells how to get the holiday look in 5 steps.

  • How to create a Chignon
    1. Hair is placed into a low ponytail at the base of the nape.
    2. Hair is then divided into two sections.
    3. Hair is then twisted in opposite directions and pinned into a low chignon.
    4. Tip: fantasticstyle™ firm hold gel can be raked through with fingers for more texture.
    5. Tip: to keep fly away hairs in place, use a small amount of fantasticstyle™ pomade on a toothbrush to smooth hairs in place.
  • How to create a Perfect Holiday Pony-Tail
    1. Shampoo and condition the hair. Unlike other updo’s, a perfect ponytail requires perfectly clean hair.
    2. Straight hair works best for ponytail, so blow dry the hair straight with a blow dryer. For naturally wavy or curly hair, apply fantasticstyle™ smoothing gel to damp strands.
    3. Left, right and center… decide on whether your guest wants to part her hair in the middle or if she would rather wear side pony tail.
    4. High or low ponies. Try experimenting with higher or lower ponytails to achieve different looks. High ponies are famous for providing women with “mini” facelifts by putting tension on the face and emphasizing on the cheekbones while low phonies tend to be more sophisticated, modern and sleeker style.
    5. Complete the look by spraying lightly with fantasticfinish™ finishing spray.

Trends 2011
As seen on the runways at NYC Fashion Week, hairstyles in 2011 will be a throw-back to the 1960s and 70s. What that translates to is hair with volume!   Yes, ladies, big is back and it is beautiful!  Pam also offers insights on other trends for the new year:

  • Multi-textured hair will also reign in 2011. Because fashion apparel is going 3-D, think of all the ruffles and full dresses/ skirts with volume at the bottom lengths, hair will also take on a 3-D look. Curls will be created by different size curling iron barrels so there is an explosion of waves. Crimping irons will make a comeback to provide a much textured look in hair.
  • And let’s not forget about the big bang! Deep full fringe bangs are in for 2011. Adding a full fringe to any haircut will update the look providing a modern and trendy feel.
  • Hair color will play off the Ombre’ color effects and root shading will remain popular. Ombre’ color effects is when the hair is highlighted from about 3 inches from the root area and gradually increases in lighter shades in the mid-shaft to the lightest color on the ends.
  • Root shading is when the natural root area is allowed to grow out or a darker color is intentionally place 1 to 2 inches from the scalp to give the “I’m too busy to do my hair look.” There is a growing group of fashionistas who prove that showing a little root can actually be tres chic as this technique allows less frequent retouches.
