About the Book
Get children really excited about science with this action-packed book that puts S.T.E.M. principles (science, technology, engineering, and math) in kids' hands. When a rich patron funds a pilot program to get children involved in S.T.E.M. subjects, five students are hand-picked for the project. Some of the students are excited to be there, and some of them couldn't care less. They are led by their mysterious teacher, who may or may not be a spy. When disaster strikes, the S.T.E.M. Squad starts learning and getting involved. As they team up with top notch scientists, engineers, mathematicians, geologists, and others, the kids soon learn that applied science can be fun! In Flood: Race Against Time,, the S.T.E.M. Squad rushes in to a flood area to help place sandbags, divert the flood waters, and more. But when a makeshift reservoir gives way, the kids find themselves trapped!

My Take on the Book
This was a fun book that really brought in some great science and math concepts while still keeping it light and fun. Best of all you get a great team that are memorable and that upper elementary and middle school readers can relate too. The mystery included in this book was also fun and will keep you guessing for some time as well! One of the things that sets this book apart was how the characters connect with people who are working in STEM fields on a daily basis to solve their mystery. All-in-all this is a great book that brings in some great concepts and careers while still educating and entertaining!
