Book Review: The Currency of Life

About the Book
What matters in life? Which of our actions count for more, which for less? What each of us really wants to know is this: Why are we here in the first place? It's 2010, yet in many ways it might as well be 1010. Despite the repeated warnings that to ignore history is to repeat it, in fact that is precisely what we do, both as individuals and as societies. Is it possible to create the world we all hope for, a world without violence, a world in which we can raise our children in peace and harmony? Can human life be reinvented? Mark E. Klein, MD explains why our traditional view of life is flawed and has led us to the current chaotic state of our world. Through an analysis of clues offered up by both science and the seemingly ordinary facts of daily existence, he describes an alternative explanation of life.

About the AuthorThe Currency of Life is Dr. Mark Klein's second book. His first, What Do I Do Now? A Handbook for Life, was published in 2006 and was recommended reading by many media outlets including Readers Digest. Dr. Klein has practiced medicine in Washington, DC, for twenty-five years. He is a nationally recognized expert in the field of diagnostic radiology, and continues to write and lecture on various topics in medicine.

My Take on the BookHow many of you have said to yourself, why am I here? What is the meaning of life? I know that I have, and in this book, the author does an amazing job at capturing many of the answers to these questions in an engaging text. The author not only basic assumptions that we al hold about our existence, but continues on to push all of us as readers to open our minds to the possibilities around us. The book, though engaging, is a hefty read and not for the feint of heart. Though I say this, I was compelled to read it completely (and even re-read a few sections) to get the most out f what was being shared.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is grappling with the idea of meaning and existence within their own lives!
