Author Amanda Hosch loves writing, travel, and coffee. She lived abroad for almost a decade, teaching English as a Foreign Language. A fifth generation New Orleanian, Amanda now lives in Seattle with her husband, their two daughters, and a ghost cat. She says: "I've loved mystery and detective stories since childhood. I tore through my mom’s Agatha Christies before I graduated from grammar school. The main character of Mabel came about first as her nickname Moppet. I knew that her parents were top secret agents and that she knew their secret. It took a while to find a place for her to live, but one summer we’d spent many weekends hiking on Mt. Rainier and the setting just sort of came to me. The Rules that Mabel uses are adapted from The Moscow Rules. I can’t even remember when I first learned about them, but once I formulated new ones from Moppet’s POV, it gave me a hook to write the book on."
My Take on the Book
This was a great book that brought in some mystery, some adventure and a lot of fun! I, for one, loved the characters in this story. Not only do you have Mabel, but you also are introduced to some characters that you will not forget. I also loved that this was set around Mt. Ranier. I am a BIG fan of this area of the country and this book really captured the essence of the area too. The book also had a ton of twists and turns that I was not expecting that made the story even more enjoyable. This is a book that kept me reading from beginning to end!
