In Charlie Makes a Splash! you get the award-winning team who brought us MY BROTHER CHARLIE presenting a companion book that celebrates the power of water for those who have autism.
Like many kids on the autism spectrum, Charlie finds solace and empowerment in pools, ponds, sprinklers, visiting the aquarium, and swimming in the ocean. Through his adventures and discoveries, he shows the world that even though he has autism, autism doesn’t have him.
My Take on the Book
What I love about this book is that it uncovers the world of an autistic child and makes something that may seem different seem more relevant and real to the reader. The characters are great and the author does a great job at humanizing the characters and the world that Charlie lives in to help all kids understand difference and also relate it back to the world that they live in as well!
