Book Review - For What It's Worth... Love, Dad

About the Book
"For What it’s Worth…Love, Dad: Things I always wanted to tell you, if only we’d had the time” (ISBN 1466499176), a collection of essays by Bruce Smith, is the author’s expression of love to his children in the form of short, touching memoirs and pithy life lessons.

Smith says that the most satisfying job he ever held is being a good father to his children – and that parenting doesn’t stop when our children leave home. In this often humorous and sometimes touching book he offers a tribute to the memories he shares with them and powerful examples of what it means to be a family. Addressing a broad range of themes including the fear felt when a family member is in danger, how to recognize and make right choices and the importance of trust, the book is full of anecdotes and common sense that any family can relate to.

“I began writing the book because I didn’t want my children to ever think we had left anything unsaid,” says Smith. “And ended up celebrating the life we’ve shared, giving them something to carry forward in life.”

The idea for the book came about when Smith’s grown daughter emailed him seeking marital advice. He wrote her back, offering what he hoped was sage advice and signed the email “For What it’s Worth, Love Dad,” which led him to think of many other trials his children might yet face and the tools they would need to deal with that adversity. The result is this collection. Written to engage, entertain and inspire, the book is aimed at children and parents of all backgrounds.

“For What it’s Worth…Love, Dad: Things I always wanted to tell you, if only we’d had the time” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.

My Take on the Book
This was truly a heartfelt book that was full of great insights and thoughts that any parent should share with their child. The book also was so easy to read. I found that after I started the book I did not want to put it down and with it only being 102 pages the book flies by and before you know it, you are through the whole book craving even more. As a father I could relate to so much in this book. This is a must read for ALL fathers and even better, all parents!
