Book Review - We Are Called to Be a Movement

We Are Called to Be a Movement

About the Book

It's time for everyone who cares about the state of our nation to heed the call and join forces to redeem the soul of America.

It's time to come together and renounce the politics of rejection, division, and greed. It's time to lift up the common good, move up to higher ground, and revive the heart of democracy.

In a single, rousing sermon, the celebrated Reverend William J. Barber II of the Poor People’s Campaign makes an impassioned argument whose message could not be clearer: It's time for change, and the time needs you.

My Take on the Book
This was a short but powerful book. The pastor in this book has a very strong message that talks about the message of Jesus and what he and God want for the world. The book offers inspiration and motivation to the reader. I recommend this to all!

Book Review - Don't You Just Hate That? 2nd Edition: 947 of Life's Little Annoyances

Don't You Just Hate That? 2nd Edition: 947 of Life's Little Annoyances

About the Book
An obsessive and curated collection of life's little irritations, injustices, grievances, and petty pretensions. Because it's about time someone wrote this stuff down.

It's so annoying:

85. Sitting in a chair that is shorter than everyone else's.

762. That bacon will never be considered a vegetable.

17. Watching a movie with your parents that shows full-frontal nudity.

284. When someone you're not really with breaks up with you.

1. When everything a cynic warns you about ends up happening.

My Take on the Book
This is a great book that walk you through little (and big) annoyances. The book will make you laugh like crazy at the lighthearted look at these things in life that are all around us. This is a fun book that you will love reading and sharing with others!

Book Review - The 10 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time: Decoding History's Unsolved Mysteries

he 10 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time: Decoding History's Unsolved Mysteries

About the Book

Master storyteller Brad Meltzer counts down and decodes the world’s top 10 most intriguing conspiracies stories.

Wanted: the truth. In a riveting collection, Brad Meltzer guides us through the 10 greatest conspiracies of all time, from Leonardo da Vinci’s stolen prophecy to the Kennedy assassination. This richly illustrated book serves up those fascinating, unexplained questions that nag at history buffs and conspiracy lovers: Why was Hitler so intent on capturing the Roman “Spear of Destiny?” Where did all the Confederacy’s gold go? What is the government hiding in Area 51? And did Lee Harvey Oswald really act alone?

Meltzer sifts through the evidence, weighs competing theories, separates what we know to be true and what’s still––and perhaps forever––unproved or unprovable, and in the end, decodes the mystery and arrives at the most likely explanation.

My Take on the Book
This was such an amazing book. You will be drawn into so many different conspiracies that you will truly learn a ton when you are reading through this book. The book is full of amazing images but it is also full of well researched information that will really make you think in different ways about whether there was a conspiracy or not in the different stories that are found throughout the book. There are stories in this book that you will know, but also ones that will be completely new to you as well. This is an amazing book I highly recommend!

Book Review - Every Penguin in the World: A Quest to See Them All

Every Penguin in the World: A Quest to See Them All

About the Book
“Through powerful stories and beautiful photographs, Every Penguin in the World is a celebration of these delightful birds and a call for their conservation. This is a book of joy, love, and hope for penguins and the world.” —Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace

Both a love letter and a call to action, this narrative and photographic book chronicles the author and his wife in their quest to see every penguin species on the planet. In the process, he muses about adventure, conservation, and what it is about penguins that captures our hearts.

Every Penguin in the World tracks author-photographer Charles Bergman's forays around the southern hemisphere--from the Galapagos to South Africa to the Antarctic--in his quest to see all 18 species of penguins in the world. The sections of the book are organized around themes of adventure, science and conservation, and pilgrimage--in which stories of each penguin species will be touched upon.

This endearing and thought-provoking book beautifully combines narrative and photography to capture the plight and the experience of penguins worldwide. The author and his wife developed a passion after seeing their first penguin species and have since spent years traveling far and wide to see each variety of penguin in its natural habitat.

My Take on the Book
If you love penguins you will love this book. It was filled with amazing images but also made you think deeply about the plight of the penguin. The highlight of the book were the amazing photos throughout the book of so many different varieties of penguins. The book takes you on a true adventure, allowing you to explore the world where penguins live. You learn about their communities and about the species as a whole. In the end this book is an amazing one that you will keep coming back to. You will also want to keep sharing this with others too. Highly recommend this book to all!
