My Take on the Book
This was another great annual edition of Ripley's Believe it or not amazing information all in one place. I found that this was filled with amazing feats, figures, crazy antics and more. As you read this you will be drawn in by the remarkable stories as well as the images that went along with this too. While we have read other versions of these books, we always look forward to the new editions as there is always new material and pictures within it. While many of the pages have their shock value, they still are a ton of fun and if you are like my daughters and I you will truly enjoy sharing this great book together.

My Take on the Book
This is a great book that has some very fun experiments within it. Best of all was the fact that many of the experiments were ones that we already had the items for in my own home. The experiments covered many genres of science which made the book so broad and all-encompassing.My daughters loved exploring these chapters and this past weekend we worked together on a few of the experiments. That being said, the book provided step-by-step instructions that were easy to follow and the end result were fun times and happy kids. The end results of the experience was that the experiment turned out as expected and my girls are already asking for more!

My Take on the Book
For any parent that is trying to teach concepts of entrepreneurship to their kids, or if they have a budding entrepreneur in their family this book is for them. This book is a treasure trove of ideas, resources and more to help any young entrepreneur to better understand business and what it takes to start and continue a business. As mentioned it is filled with practical tips and advice to help you brainstorm and find solutions that will help you be creative in your business approaches. My youngest is a budding entrepreneur and has a number of ideas already. After reading this she was able to whittle this list down a bit and make some of the ideas more concrete, which was perfect!

I recommend this book wholeheartedly to all!

Book Review - The Mutts Autumn Diaries

About the Book
Yesh! Mooch, Earl, and all their endearing Mutts friends return in this third Mutts collection for kids!

My Take on the Book
Another great mutts book that lets you see your favorite characters getting into the fall season. My daughter loves reading these books and she quickly read through this and found that by the end she wanted to read through it again (it was that good). The illustration / cartoon was skillfully drawn and you get drawn into the season with fun colors and costumes!

This is a must have for any Mutts fan!

Book Review - Breaking Cat News: Cats Reporting on the News that Matters to Cats

My Take on the Book
As cat lovers ourselves this was an amazing book. The book is full of humor that any cat lover will appreciate completely. With cats reporting on things that cats do on a daily basis, we laughed over and over again as we read this. There are so many intricate details in each of these strips that are so fun to find. You will love the news cats and the news that they share, I know that our family did!

Book Review - The Singing Bones

About the Book

My Take on the Book
When I first saw this book with the title THE SINGING BONES, I was not sure what to expect. Reading the forward by Neil Gaiman gave me the story behind this gifted artist~ Shaun Tan. Reading the introduction gave me the history of the Grimm brothers and their life and collection of folk and fairy tales. I think it is essential to the reader to read both of these sections.

Shaun Tan has taken 75 of the Grimm brothers' folk and fairy tales and illustrated them with a sculpture made of paper mache or clay. Some are painted, some are carved very simply, some are carved intricately. If you are familiar with the story , you will understand the reason he chose the particular sculpture to feature the folk or fairy tale.

In the story of Hansel and Gretel, the illustrator created a larger than life witch figure looking down on the gingerbread house and the small children sculptures eating. Rapunzel is a beautiful simple sculpture with long flowing blonde hair, and Briar Rose is an intricate sculpture of a thorny stem with one rose attached.

The illustrator tells the reader that he was inspired to create sculptures by the Inuit stone carvings and those of the pre-Columbian art period. Even though the sculptures are solid pieces , the reader will see the emotion and the story behind his creations.

I found this book very interesting . I believe Shaun Tan has discovered a beautiful and creative avenue to illustrate the Grimm brothers collection of folk and fairy tales.
