DVD Review - Strawberry Shortcake - Double Feature

Strawberry Shortcake - Double Feature

 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

About the DVD
It’s a delicious double feature you won’t want to miss! In The Wonderful World of Strawberry Shortcake, the Peculiar Purple Pieman’s up to no good—can Strawberry and her friends stop him? And in Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City, Strawberry and the Pieman square off in a baking contest at “the little theater off Times Pear.” These two tales are berry-licious!

My Take on the DVD
There are two short movies in this DVD.

THE WORLD OF STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

This is very nice family friendly animated film. If you are not familiar with Strawberry Shortcake, she is a kind, gentle, and friendly little girl who grows strawberries and is well loved in her tiny little town of other characters with fruit names. In this story Peculiar Purple Pieman , the villain, creates a plan so he can take all of the strawberries. However his plan backfires on him. Once again, it is through kindness that the villain learns he can be likable and become a friend rather than a foe. There is definitely forgiveness illustrated in this move. You will also see Strawberry Shortcake using her positive attitude to create the "happy ending" to the story.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE IN BIG APPLE CITY

Strawberry Shortcake and Peculiar Purple Pieman are the two finalists in a baking contest. Of course Strawberry Shortcake stays positive in spite of all the challenges that the Pieman creates so he can win the contest. Because of Strawberry Shortcake's new friends, she wins the contest. The Pieman just does not seem to understand that someone can win without being deceitful. Telling the truth, being there to help friends, showing friendship, and trying to do your best are some of the lessons that can be learned from this movie. There is singing, dancing, lots of problem solving and of course humor.

DVD Review - Dorothy in the Land of Oz

Dorothy in the Land of Oz
 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

About the DVD
Get ready for an Oz-tastic adventure! With her beloved aunt and uncle preparing to move away, Dorothy’s carried back to Oz by a green turkey balloon. There she meets Jack Pumpkinhead, the Hungry Tiger, Tik-Tok and others before facing off against Tyrone the Terrible Toy Tinker. You're in for a ride you won't forget!

My Take on the DVD
Aunt Em and Uncle Henry are going to lose the farm . Dorothy was planning to assist them in planning a last farewell party when she was whisked away to the Land of Oz again. In this episode Dorothy helps Tyrone the Terrible realize he does not have to produce toys that would damage the world. He learned he was a gifted toy maker and people would like him for the good he could produce. The story illustrates the importance of kindness, friendship, understanding and knowing that "home" is where your heart is.

Puff the Magic Dragon - Triple Feature
 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

About the DVD
It’s Puff to the rescue in a trio of amazing stories! First he helps Jackie find happiness in Puff the Magic Dragon. Next he teaches Sandy why it’s important to tell the truth in Puff the Magic Dragon in the Land of the Living Lies. And finally, he helps Terry find his lost friend in Puff and the Incredible Mr. Nobody. You’ll love spending time with Puff!

My Take on the DVD
This DVD has three movies in one.

PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON: As the song by Peter ,Paul , and Mary tell, Little Jackie Draper loved Puff and Puff helped him to use his imagination to find fun and regain his happiness. There are lessons about overcoming fears and having confidence in who you are. This is a good movie for a family discussion after viewing it.

PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON IN THE LAND OF LIVING LIES: Sandy is a little girl who tells lies to everyone. She loses her friends and her family is upset with her due to her lies. Puff takes her on a journey to assist her in learning how lies can be harmful and hurtful. Sandy learns to tell the truth and face her own fears about her family situation. Another good family movie to watch together and discuss.

PUFF AND THE INCREDIBLE MR. NOBODY: Terry had a very vivid imagination. He had few friends so he created an imaginary friend to keep him company. Mr. Nobody became so important to Terry that he did not realize that his "friend" was actually him. Puff assisted Terry in realizing how important it is for Terry to be himself and to know how gifted he was in many ways. With that knowledge Terry was able to give up his imaginary friend and live in the real world.

About the DVD
It’s an Easter tale for the ages! When Mama and Papa Doppler are in danger of losing their farm to the greedy Tobias Tinwhiskers, it’s up to their son Peter to save it. Featuring animal friends and even Mother Nature herself, it’s a story the whole family will enjoy!

My Take on the DVD
In this family friendly animated movie, you will meet Farmer Doppler, his wife , and their son Peter. The villain Tobias Tinwhiskers is no match for Peter and the animals as they save the farm from Tobias' s greedy hands. There is singing, dancing, friendship, and problem solving. Mother Nature has her own magic, the magic of laughter, in her magic egg and with the help of the Easter Bunny, the farm is saved . I believe your family will enjoy this movie.

The Ballet Creativity Book: With Games, Cut-Outs, Art Paper, Stickers, and Stencils
 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

About the Book
Kids will make their own tiara, stencil in a dancer's missing props, decorate a beautiful sticker scene, and more in The Ballet Creativity Book. Barron's imaginatively interactive Creativity Books are great for keeping kids occupied anytime. Their features include games, puzzles, stickers, projects, stencils, and more. Each Creativity Book has a distinctive theme to capture the imaginations of boys and girls. Illustrations on virtually every page include 40 pages in color. (Ages 5 and older)

My Take on the Book
Caroline Rowlands has written a book specifically for children who are interested in ballet. The book not only will teach ballet positions and dance, but will give your child opportunities to use their imagination and to show their creativity.

There is a section about THE NUTCRACKER ballet. Your child will draw the missing pictures that accompany written text.

Another group of pages show the positions of the hands and feet in typical ballet stances. With this visual your child will be able to practice these positions.

The pages in this book will provide learning experiences and fun.
