Book Review - Goosebumps Most Wanted Special Edition: Trick or Trap

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
The infamous, Most Wanted Goosebumps characters are out on the loose and after you. Just in time for Halloween, a super special edition!

It's Halloween and that means time for trick-or-treating. And scary parties. But this year things are taking a turn for the terrifying. Scott and Amanda throw a bash at an old haunted house. There won't be any treats, only traps. Traps for a few bullies that are always bugging them at school. What could possibly go wrong? How about a haunted house with a mind of its own? A house that would rather play its own tricks and set its own traps...

My Take on the Book
Another spine-chilling tale for young adults to read and share with their friends. After reading this, you get to start looking at some of the big, spooky houses in your own town in a different way and wondering whether they too have secrets, and a mind of their own. This was a great book that will leave you on the edge of your seat and will keep you guessing throughout until the very end.

About the Book
The original series from the Master of Fright--now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

Trina O'Dell's dad used to have a ventriloquist act. That's why he has all those dummies in the attic. He calls it his Dummy Museum. There's a dummy with freckles. And one with a sneer just like Rocky. Trina and her brother, Dan, think the dummies are pretty cool.

But now there are voices in the attic. And dummies keep showing up in the strangest places.

No way those dummies could be alive...right?

My Take on the Book
If you liked Night of the Living Dummy 2, then this one will be the next you must read! It is a great book that really will keep you on the edge of your seat. As someone that was never really find of ventriloquist dummies, this book is chock full of them and you are definitely thrown into a world where everything is not as you might think and things are alive that probably should not be. That being said, the book is meant to set you on edge and it does the trick!

About the Book

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

Amy's ventriloquist dummy, Dennis, has lost his head…for real. So Amy begs her family for a new dummy. That's when her dad finds Slappy in a local pawnshop. Slappy's kind of ugly, but at least his head stays on!

Amy loves practicing her new comedy routine. It's like this dummy knows what she's thinking. Like he can move by himself. And it's a lot of fun…until Slappy starts a routine of his own. A nasty horrible, routine that isn't funny at all.

Slappy may have a new owner, but he's up to the same old tricks...

My Take on the Book
Ok, this dummy is creepy! I have always thought that ventriloquist dummies were a bit different but this one is off the charts and when he starts doing his own routine you will not like to see what he starts to do or what his routine is. This book was a bit of a scarier book than I have read in a while from R.L. Stine. In the end it was a great book, and it was a compelling read too. However, if you do not like dummies or the idea of them coming to life, hold onto your hat as you are in for a bumpy ride!

About the Book
The original series from the Master of Fright--now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

On Max's birthday, he finds a kind of magic mirror in the attic. It can make him invisible.

So Max and his friends start playing "now you see me, now you don't." Until Max realizes that he's losing control. Staying invisible a little too long. Having a harder and harder time coming back.

Getting invisible is turning into a very dangerous game.

The next time Max gets invisible, will it be...forever?

My Take on the Book
All of us have probably wondered what it would be like to be invisible, or at least I have. I mean, what would you find out if you were invisible? This story gives one person this chance, but at what cost? Will he be able to come back from being invisible? You will have to read to find out! Another very engaging read that you will be able to read swiftly and will compel you to continue from start to finish!

Jordan Blake and his sister, Nicole, are sick of the hot weather in Pasadena, California. Just once they'd like to have a real winter with real snow.

And then it happens. The Blakes are taking a trip to Alaska! Mr. Blake has been asked to photograph a mysterious snow creature there.

Poor Jordan and Nicole. They just wanted to see snow. But now they're being chased by a monstrous creature. A big furry-faced creature known as the Abominable Snowman!

My Take on the Book
Yikes! Talk abut scary. I would not want to be in this situation with a snow man on my heels, but alas that is what these kids kind happening to them. R.L. Stine does it again and brings forward a great story that you will want to read, especially if you love suspense and love a good page-turning book. I find that even though these books are for younger readers, I still can have a ton of fun with them and can read through them usually in one sitting, and you will too! This book is filled with great description and an engaging story. I found myself wondering what would happen next and whether they would escape the snow monster or not... always a great sign of a great story!

Goosebumps: The Blob That Ate Everyone

About the Book
The original series from the Master of Fright--now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

A famous horror writer. That's what Zackie Beauchamp wants to be. He's writing a story about a giant blob monster. A pink, slimy creature who eats up an entire town!

Then Zackie finds the typewriter. In a burned-down antiques store. He takes it home and starts typing.

But there's something really odd about that typewriter. Something really dangerous. Because now every scary word Zackie writes is starting to come true.

My Take on the Book
What would you type if you knew it would come true? What would you do if you did not realize that it would and it actually did. This is what happens in this book. It is a great book that really made me think about what I would type myself if I did know. It also made me think about what would happen if the words that I have written on my blogs would come to life.... YIKES! This is another great book from R.L. Stine. I continue to be amazed at how engaging and suspenseful this author can be. R.L. Stine truly is a master of horror & suspense for young readers and the breadth and depth of books that you can find from this author covers such a wide array of topics.... simply amazing! This was a great addition to this list in my consideration!

The fog shimmered up over the dark grass, over the bent, scraggly trees. Covering the hill, covering the old graveyard.

Spencer Levy heard the horrifying moan. Though the windowpane, he heard a long, low moan floating from the hill.

Human and animal at the same time.

So cold. So sad. So near...

My Take on the Book
Page by page you get pulled along and you winder what you are going to meet on the next page, that is what is amazing about the writing style of R.L.Stine. In this book you really don't know who or what is out there. The writing in this is colorful, suspenseful and sometimes a bit scary, especially for younger readers. Just remember that it is all in good fun. I don't know where the ideas for R.L. Stine comes from, but this one was a winner and I highly recommend this for all horror/suspense young readers!

About the Book
The original series from the Master of Fright--now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

Hannah's neighborhood has gotten a little--weird. Ever since that new boy moved in next door.

But when did he move in? Wasn't the house empty when Hannah went to sleep the night before? Why does it still look so deserted?

Hannah can't get any answers from her new neighbor. He just keeps disappearing in the oddest ways. And he's so pale...

Is Hannah being haunted by...

...the ghost next door?

My Take on the Book
Is the boy a boy or a ghost? R.L. Stine does it again and shares a suspenseful story here that really keeps you guessing until the very end. I love how this author can weave a story and can really capture the attention of the reader and can lead them along without spilling the beans. That being said though I also have to say that this is a well written story that really had some twists and turns and characters that you really want to know and a environment that you really get a bit lost in too. All-in-all this was a ton of fun and a great read for young and old!

Goosebumps: A Shocker on Shock Street

 photo disclaimer_zpsflpjm0lf.jpg

About the Book
The original series from the Master of Fright--now a major motion picture in theaters August 7, 2015!

The original books featuring the scariest creatures from the Goosebumps movie, in theaters August 7th, 2015!

Erin Wright and her best friend, Marty, love horror movies. Especially Shocker on Shock Street movies. All kinds of scary creatures live on Shock Street. The Toadinator. Ape Face. The Mad Mangler.

But when Erin and Marty visit the new Shocker Studio Theme Park, they get the scare of their lives. First their tram gets stuck in The Cave of the Living Creeps. Then they're attacked by a group of enormous praying mantises!

Real life is a whole lot scarier than the movies. But Shock Street isn't really real. Is it?

My Take on the Book
What I always love about R.L. Stine stories is that he takes horror and makes it fun for young readers. This book was suspenseful and really makes you re-think the environment that is being shared in the book itself and wonder whether you are really seeing Shock Street for what it is or not. The author does a great job at not only creating an environment that was vibrant and alive but shares characters that you can relate to as well. All-in-all this was the type of book that was a page turner and was one that my daughter and I loved reading together!

My Take on the Book
This was a fun story that really makes you think about what you would do in the same situation. There definitely was some spine tingling times that were brought forward as you read page by page. One thing you wonder in this for sure is: Would you do the same if you found the Vampire in a Can as this person did? For me, I would have to say that I would stay as far away from this as I could... no turning into a vampire for me! This was a fun story that you will enjoy reading. It is short, but powerful and definitely keeps you engaged from beginning to end!
