The Bouqs Offers Beautiful Flowers Anytime Of The Year! #Bouqlove

 photo disclaimer2_zps8af35ac1.jpg

When you are in a relationship, whether it is marriage, or something else you want to keep it fresh and fun and for many that means flowers. Now you can get your old run of the mill flowers or you can go above and beyond to get flowers that have some WOW factor. For me, just recently I had the chance to check out a new company called The Bouqs. This company is set up to provide amazing blooms right to your door, some from the United States, but many from much more exotic locations.

I ended up trying out some of the flowers from their volcano collection. Why did I choose them? Well, first, they were colors I knew that J-Mom would love, and second, they looked beautiful. The website offers you three sizes to choose from. I got the smallest to at least try it out, even though the website recommended the second size. In receiving my wife's bouquet I think next time I will spend the extra money to go to the second size as they say you get double the blooms!

The website was super easy to use and you can select dates that work for you in regards to delivery. I will warn you that for the more exotic bouquets, you have to order early as it is not next day delivery, as they are being shipped from quite a ways away, but what you get is exquisite.

The bouquet that we received (The flowers you see at the top of the post) was beautiful and was something that I know J-Mom loved. The bouquet we got has blooms that open slowly, so I know we will be enjoying this for sometime to come.

Another unique thing that this company provides is a monthly delivery service that you can set up so that your special person gets flowers every month or whatever increment of time that you would like to identify - cool idea!

If you have never checked out this company you should. Click here to see some of their amazing bouquets!

My Take on the Website
I am always looking for ease when I am purchasing online. Especially when buying flowers online I want to know that what I see is what I get and BloomNation definitely provides this to their customers. I was impressed with the overall website, as it provides you with easy access to searching for locations that they serve and then they provide you with actual images from the florists themselves, so you know what you will be receiving. On top of this the site is pretty simple to use. I had one issue with paying for my order, but in contacting customer service we were able to clear up the issue quickly and efficiently and we ended up finding that it was a Google Chrome issue as purchasing in Internet Explorer worked fine (you have to love technology). On top of this, I had originally ordered the flowers for delivery on one day and then had to adjust this date and again, in calling customer service we were able to change the date immediately and the flowers were delivered exactly when they supposed to.

In talking to the recipients of the flowers themselves I have to say that they were very impressed. I was not able to see them as I sent them to Florida, but an image is forthcoming and from what they said, it sounds like the image that I originally selected.

The only downside to this site right now is that it is still growing and not in all areas. I was going to send flowers to my wife, but they are not in the Michigan area in which I live, at least now yet but I hope that they will be soon!

All-in-all, if you are looking for quality and ease, Bloom Nation definitely provides it!

Book Review - Bluebonnet Time

About the Book
One of America’s most iconic flowers – not to mention the state flower of Texas – goes under the magnifying glass in Bluebonnet Time: An Evan Wilder Science Journal (April 2011, BioRhythms Publishing) by beloved children’s author, Lucas Miller.  Inside, budding field scientist Evan Wilder hops in the car with his family for a special wildflower road trip.
Miller, affectionately known as “the Singing Zoologist,” has been educating kids for years with songs about science.  In Bluebonnet Time (recommended grades 1-5), he invites them to look at this flower in a whole new way: Through a magnifying glass.
For example, did you know that:
  • Bees like this flower, because they are naturally attracted to the color blue?
  • Bluebonnets have a secret message for bees, and can tell them when their pollen is “ripe,” and when it is “stale?”
  • Bluebonnets are actually related to pea plants?
This book also comes with an album of 9 original songs written by Miller for family wildflower drives, including the song that inspired this story: “Bluebonnet Time.”
“I'm just a curious guy and I love to learn and share what I've discovered,” says Miller.
“I'm always looking for teachable moments, and Texans' obsession with taking snapshots in the bluebonnets seems like a great one.  My hope is that through this book and my songs, kids, parents, and educators will take morenotice of the flowers when they're snapping photos  (and maybe becareful not to squish so many).  There's so much to learn and discover when you take a moment to look closely at anything in nature.”
With engaging and colorful illustrations by Amy and Sherry Watson, who also illustrated Miller’s Dr. DNA & the Anaconda Invasion (2007), Bluebonnet Time turns a roadtrip tradition – the family portrait inside a patch of bluebonnets – into an irresistible science lesson.
Over 1.5 million children have seen LUCAS MILLER present his one-of-a-kind science lessons on plants, animals, bugs and even Mexican food.  He has performed everywhere from the National Zoo in Washington, DC, to Austin City Limits Music Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the country.  His songs are in regular rotation on Sirius/XM’s “XMKids” (Channel 116), and from 2008 – 2010, he has been named an "American Masterpiece Artist" from National Endowment for the Arts. For more information, please visit www.lucasmiller.net or www.bluebonnettime.com.

My Take on the Book
I had never heard of the story of the Bluebonnet in Texas. Once I read this though I had to go and ask some Texan friends if this was true and in fact it was. I was impressed by the story as well as the beautiful illustrations within the book. Here in Michigan we do not get bluebonnets, but I wish we did as they seem beautiful! Also with this book you get some great music to listen to (and learn from). All of the songs had to do with nature, and my girls loved them all. The songs were ones that completely stay in your head, so be wary, once your kids hear them, they will be singing along (and so may you).

Teleflora Debuts Partnership with Faith Hill in Super Bowl XLV Ad

Teleflora, the world's leading flower wire service, along with five-time Grammy Award winner Faith Hill, today announced the creation of "The Collection by Faith Hill." Developed with Teleflora to reflect her style, taste, and artistry, Faith Hill and her Teleflora collection – "The Collection by Faith Hill" – will be unveiled in Teleflora's latest television commercial set to debut during Super Bowl XLV on FOX on Sunday, February 6, 2011. Teleflora returns to the big game for a third year with a 30-second spot that will air during the second quarter. Teleflora and Hill will collaborate throughout the year on "The Collection by Faith Hill," adding to the assortment with a variety of elegant bouquets, including Valentine's Day flowers, Mother’s Day flowers, and Christmas flowers, as well as everyday occasions.

Hill stars in a laugh-out-loud Valentine's Day spot staged in a recording studio where she steps in to coach her sound tech through a Valentine’s Day dilemma, creating an unexpected and funny twist to the spot. Also making its debut in the commercial is the lead bouquet in "The Collection by Faith Hill” Valentine's Day assortment – "The Valentine's Bouquet." The Valentine's Day product-line up in "The Collection by Faith Hill" also includes five additional bouquets, all available on teleflora.com and in the shops of local Teleflora florists. Like every floral gift from Teleflora, it is personally designed and delivered by a local florist in the recipient’s neighborhood and arrives ready-to-enjoy in a keepsake vase.

"We are excited about our partnership with Faith Hill, who is a perfect fit for the Teleflora brand. Faith is an entertainer who has broad appeal and transcends musical genres. Teleflora leads the floral industry with products that showcase quality and superior designs, and this partnership is another reflection of that," said Shawn Weidmann, President, Teleflora. "There is no better opportunity to introduce consumers to "The Collection by Faith Hill" than with a spot during the year's most widely watched sporting event on television. And it's right before Valentine's Day – one of the busiest times for the floral industry."

"It's been a lot of fun designing a line of hand-arranged bouquets with Teleflora," said Faith Hill. "They're a great company that takes pride in their products, their flowers – and in their commercials. I can't think of any better way that to be able to kick-off this partnership with an ad during the Super Bowl."

Also debuting with Teleflora's Super Bowl commercial will be Teleflora’s fun new "Flower Coach" iPhone application, which ties into the theme of the commercial with an unexpected twist.

The company’s in-house ad agency, Fire Station, was behind the concept and creation of the hilarious new spot. The spot was produced by Hungry Man, Inc. productions and directed by Bryan Buckley, who has directed more than 50 big game commercials and has won numerous awards for his work. The commercial will continue to air through Saturday, February 12, 2011 on sports-focused cable channels and primetime cable shows geared towards male viewers.

You can also go and enter for a chance to win a beautiful Teleflora Bouquet on my other website - http://dadofdivas.com/giveaway/teleflora-valentines-day-collection-giveaway - the contest is open only until February 10, 2011!

Benefits of Having Flowers In Your Home

Flowers are most thought of as a great gift or something nice to look at, but many people overlook the benefits of having them in the home. Flowers can be a simple decorating solution and even help to improve your mood.

Below are a few reasons of why flowers make a great addition to any part of your home, provided by eco-friendly, mission based florist, Organic Bouquet (http://www.organicbouquet.com/).

Bright, fresh cut flowers instantly improve your mood. People with fresh flowers in their homes are most likely to feel less worried and feel fewer periods of anxiety or depression.

Asiatic Sunset Lilies

Flowers can easily take the place of boring everyday table décor. Coordinate bouquet colors with your space, or place a bright bouquet on a shabby old table to draw the eye and lend to a fresh new look.

Vibrant Orange Petite Bouquet

Smell is one of the most powerful senses and can trigger instant memories. A rose’s robust smell can fill a room with just one flower. Choose familiar bouquets that bring back fond memories of growing up in the country, taking a final bow on stage, or even those used on your wedding day.

One Dozen Peach Roses

Fresh flowers have been shown to stimulate creativity while promoting concentration. Adding flowers and fresh plants to your child’s bedroom or play area will brighten the space as well as their growing imagination, while also encouraging responsibility.

Tropical Bromeliad

Providing workers in underdeveloped countries everything from zero-interest loans, childcare, healthcare, education, environmental protection, supplies, and more, each purchase from Organic Bouquet helps to improve the life of a flower farm worker, their family and the local community. They are also a carbon neutral company, partnered with ClimateFund.org in a carbon offset program supporting re-forestation projects in Guatemala.

Send Flowers from California Blooms and Support Ovarian Cancer Research Throughout September

California Blooms (www.californiablooms.com), the premier internet retailer of fresh eco-friendly, boutique-grown roses from the central coast of California, will offer consumers a special 18-rose white bouquet throughout the month of September in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. (click here to view/order - http://www.californiablooms.com/ovarian-cancer-awareness-roses.html) With the purchase of the benefit bouquet, 15 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF), an organization dedicated to the fight against ovarian cancer.

“We are honored to partner with OCRF and to help in their efforts to prevent ovarian cancer,” commented Mark Skorlich, CEO of California Blooms.  “This is a worthy cause that has affected so many people, and we’re excited to offer our customers an easy way to contribute with this month-long campaign.”

“We are so grateful to California Blooms for their support,” said Audra Moran, CEO, OCRF. “It’s important relationships like these that enable OCRF to continue funding the most cutting-edge research in our quest to find an early detection method and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.”

According to OCRF, ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women.  The symptoms of ovarian cancer are often vague and subtle, making it difficult to diagnose. However, when ovarian cancer is detected and treated early on, the five-year survival rate is greater than 92%. Supporting ovarian cancer research makes it possible to develop new early testing techniques as well as new treatments.

California Blooms proudly supports the search for a cure in honor of the late Gerre Skorlich, mother of CEO Mark Skorlich, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 1994.

About Ovarian Cancer Research Fund:
The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) is the largest private non-profit organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to funding ovarian cancer research.  Our mission is to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.

Each year there will be approximately 22,000 new cases of ovarian cancer in the United States, and about 15,500 women will die of the disease.  Currently there is no effective means of early detection. Since 1998, OCRF has given almost $40 million for ovarian cancer research. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, OCRF sponsored researchers are developing innovative strategies for early detection; exploring the genetics that increase risk for ovarian cancer; understanding the underlying molecular biology of the disease; identifying new and better targets for treatment; and deciphering how and why ovarian cancer spreads, and how to stop it.

For more information or to join us in our fight, please visit OCRF’s website at www.ocrf.org.

About California Blooms:
Launched in 2009, California Blooms (www.californiablooms.com), is the premier internet retailer of the freshest, boutique-grown and eco-friendly roses from the central coast of California for any occasion.  California Blooms roses are delivered direct from the grower to anywhere in the U.S. within 24 hours of being hand-selected and cut, resulting in the superior quality and freshness of every bloom as compared to delivery times of upwards of 3-7 days for many of the larger floral retailers and florists.
