Book Review - Sarai and the Meaning of Awesome
About the Book
Sarai Gonzalez is AWESOME.
Fourth grader Sarai Gonzalez can do anything. She can bake, dance, and run her own cupcake business. But when Sarai's grandparents are forced to move, even Sarai's not sure what to do. So she hatches a super-awesome plan with her younger sisters and cousin to buy back the house. But houses are more expensive than she ever thought, her sisters won't listen, and she's running out of time. Will Sarai find a way to save the day?
My Take on the Book
Sarai was a very cool character who can do a bit of everything. Sarai and her sisters and cousin really have to work together to to try and but a house for their grandparents. The book works you through the learning that happens as they have to try and raise enough money and you are kept in suspense on whether Sarai and others have raised enough or whether some other type of situation can be found to keep the grandparents close by. The book brings up concepts of teamwork, perseverance, friendship and more and it was a very fun read!
