About the Book
Join Alice as she disappears down a rabbit hole and emerges in the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland! Curious happenings punctuate Alice's journey, including wild encounters with the Red Queen, the Mad Hatter, the Jabberwocky, and many others!

A reissue of the best-selling novel based on the star-studded spectacular featuring Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean), Anne Hathaway (The Princess Diaries), Alan Rickman (Harry Potter), Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings), and directed by Tim Burton!

My Take on the Book
Walt Disney used this version of Alice in Wonderland to make his animated motion picture of the story. I found it interesting to read this book as it takes the reader from the very beginning where Alice is living with her parents as a child of eight. Her father is creative and fun for Alice to be with. He understands her bad dreams. These dreams appear to be part of her wonderland experience we are all familiar with.

The reader is introduced to an Alice 10 years later who is about to become engaged to a man named Hamish who she does not care to marry. Her adventure begins as she is running away from the engagement party.

Alice's dream brings in events into her life. The caterpillar becomes the incident in which Hamish has one on his shoulder. The mean queen becomes Lady Ascot who wanted her roses red not white. So many similarities that the author wove into Alice's life and dream life.

I enjoyed the ending too which was so different. You see Alice returning to the engagement party but then discussing with Lord Ascot the idea of trade with China and other far away countries. The author sets the stage for this as you read Alice is on a ship to China.

It was wonderful to read this entire book. The reader can see where Walt Disney gained his storyboard for his movie. However I also enjoyed reading the extra sections that were not included that gave you a fuller concept of the girl and then woman of Alice.
