About the Book
My Take on the Book
Susan Castriota has written and illustrated a delightful children's book about a dog named Wilson. She does an excellent job telling her readers how pet adoption is so important to the animals who are in shelters waiting for adoptive families.
Humans play a life saving role when they adopt dogs and cats. She explains how the animals need the love, shelter, food, water and exercise that only a loving family or a caring individual can provide.
Wilson, in the story, lived with a man who smoked and consequently Wilson became ill. When he was adopted by Susan ,he had to visit the vet in order to become a healthy dog. Children will be able to learn how a healthy environment is not only essential for them but also for their pets.
If you are considering a pet , I encourage you to read this book and seek out the nearest animal shelter to find one. Maybe once there you will also discover how important volunteers are to the daily running of the shelter, and then volunteer on a weekly or even monthly basis.
