Book Review - The House That Wanted a Family

About the Book
The House that Wanted a Family is a unique and charming story told from the perspective of a house. The house is for sale and sits empty, waiting for a family. It’s a book you’ll want to read again and again…to a child or yourself. The house will be waiting.
The author stated “I was taking a walk with my niece past a charming little house a family bought after months of being vacant,” says Daniel. “I thought, what a great story about fulfilling dreams.”

Daniel, who drew the colorful illustrations on each page, describes the aroma of cookies baking and echoes of rooms filled with family whispers to convey the special qualities that make a house a home.

She says she hopes the book can share the joy of home with both children and adults and help ease the transition during a family move.

About the Author
Susan Spence Daniel is the author and illustrator of The House that Wanted a Family. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She lives in southeastern Wisconsin and is the mother of one adult daughter. Although Daniel has written many stories, this is her first book to be published. She’s happy to share that dreams can come true at any age.

My Take on the Book
This was a touching family that shows that a house is definitely not a home without the love that comes from a family to fill it. This was definitely a new way to look at your own home and my girls absolutely loved it. We have taken similar walks around our town and seen homes that are vacant, especially in today's real estate market, and this really opened their eyes to what was missing from the house from the houses' perspective. This is a book that is a great read for anyone, whether they are about to move or will never move again. The story is timeless and shares a special message!
